3. Personal safetya. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. 4. Power tool use and carea. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.b. Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.c. Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.d. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.e. Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tools operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.f. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. 5. Battery tool use and carea. Ensure the switch is in the off position before inserting battery pack. Inserting the battery pack into power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.b. Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.c. Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs.Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.d. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminal together may cause burns or a fire.e. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid

6. Servicea. Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

this dust can be particularly harmful to you (e.g. lead from old gloss paint).You are advised to consider the risks associated with the materials you are working with and to reduce the risk of exposure. You should:- Work in a well-ventilated area.-Work with approved safety equipment, such as those dust masks that are specially designed to filter microscopic particles.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR CORDLESS RECIPROCATING SAW

1. Remove the battery pack from the saw before carrying out adjustments.2. Do not expose to rain or water. 3. Charger is for indoor use only.4. Do not store the battery pack in temperatures over 40oC.5. Always charge the battery pack between temperatures 0oC to 30oC. Ideal charging temperature is 15oC - 25oC.6. Only use the charger and the battery pack provided, no others.7. Avoid short circuit of the battery pack connections (screws & nails).8. Do not incinerate or burn the battery pack, it may explode.9. Do not charge a damaged battery pack.10. Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.11. Replace any damaged supply cords on your charger in an approved service centre.12. Always disconnect the charger power supply before making or breaking the connections to the battery pack.13. Battery pack and charger will be warm during charging, this is normal.14. When not in use, remove a charged battery pack from the tool.15. Always remove the battery pack from the charger immediately after re-charging is completed.16. Your saw and battery pack will be warm when working, this is normal.17. Remove the plug from the socket before carrying out any adjustment, servicing or maintenance.18. Fully unwind cable drum extensions to avoid potential overheating. 19. When an extension cable is required you must ensure it has the correct ampere rating for your power tool and is in a safe electrical condition.20. Ensure your mains supply voltage is same as indicated on the rating plate.

OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

Note: Before using the tool, read the instruction book carefully.

1. Before using your cordless circular sawYour battery pack is UNCHARGED and you must charge once before use. Your battery pack will not be fully charged until you have performed several charge and discharge operations by charging & working with your saw. After this your battery pack performance will improve.

Warning: The charger and battery pack are specifically designed to work together so

do not attempt to use any other devices. Never insert or allow metallic objects into your charger or battery pack connections because an electrical failure and hazard will occur.

2. How to charge your battery packConnect the battery charger to the power supply and the green light (9) will illuminate . Then, fully insert the battery pack into the charger to make the connections and the red light (10) will illuminate to show charging has started

. A discharged battery at normal ambient temperature will take approximately 1 hour to reach full charge. When charging is completed the green light (9) will illuminate to indicate end of charge (See fig2).

The battery pack can then be removed for use in your saw. The charger timer circuit and battery pack temperature safety cutout device prevents overcharging of your battery pack.

Warning: After long usage the battery will become hot, let the hot battery

cool down for 1 hour before recharging.

3. To remove or install battery packLocate latches on side of battery pack and depress both sides to release battery pack from your saw. Remove battery pack from your saw. After recharge insert the battery pack into saw’s battery port. A simple push and slight pressure will be sufficient.

4. Lock off switchYour switch is locked off to prevent accidental starting. Depress lock off button (2) then on/off switch (1) and release lock off button (2). Your switch is now on. To switch off just release the on/off switch.The speed of the blade can be adjusted by the pressure you apply to the switch. To increase the speed, apply more pressure to the switch. To decrease the speed, apply less pressure. (See fig3)

5. Hand grip areasAlways hold your saw firmly with both hands when operating (See fig4).

6. Tool-less blade fittingPress the bland clamp button , insert the blade shank into the blade clamp through the blade guard until it stops. Ensure the small hole in the blade is on the pin in the clamp then release the button (4) (See fig5). Pull up on blade to make sure that it is locked in. To remove a blade, carry out these instructions in reverse order.

Warning: Blade teeth are very sharp. If blade has been used recently it will be

hot. Wear Gloves. For best cutting results ensure you use a saw blade suited to the material and cut quality you need.It is possible to make cuts extremely close to floors, walls and other difficult areas. Insert the blade shank into the blade clamp with the blade teeth facing up (opposite to normal working position).This will make cuts closer to the work surface.

7. Pivoting footThe pivoting blade foot must be held firmly against the material being cut to reduce saw vibration, blade jumping and blade breakage. To adjust, hold saw firmly and pivot foot plate to desired position. (See fig6)

8. Flush cuttingWarning: When cutting through walls, floors, etc take care to avoid hidden

cables or water pipework. It is possible to make cuts extremely close to floors, walls and other difficult areas. Insert the blade shank into the blade clamp with the blade teeth facing up (opposite to normal working position). This will make cuts closer to the work surface (see fig7). Using special flexible blades insert the blade into the blade clamp with the blade teeth facing down (normal working position). It will allow flush pipe cutting (See fig8).

9. Wood cuttingAlways ensure the work-piece is firmly clamped to prevent movement. For easier control use low speed to start cutting, then increase to correct speed. (See fig9)

10. Metal cuttingThis saw has different metal cutting capacities depending upon the type of blade being used and metal being cut.ALWAYS clamp the work down to prevent it from slipping.Use a finer blade for ferrous metals and a coarse blade for non-ferrous metals.When cutting thin gauge sheet metals, ALWAYS clamp wood on both sides of the sheet. This will give you a clean cut without excess vibration or tearing of the metal.DO NOT force the cutting blade. Forcing the blade will reduce blade life and cause the blade to break.Note: We recommend that you spread a thin film of oil or other coolant along the line of cut ahead of the saw. This will allow easier operation and help extend blade life. When cutting aluminum, use kerosene.

11. Pocket cutting (Soft materials only. do not plunge cut in metal surfaces.)Mark the pocket or internal hole to be cut out. Insert the special cutting blade with blade teeth facing down and clamp securely. Angle the saw so that the back edge of the blade guard is resting on the work surface (see fig10 & fig11). Use a slow speed to start the cut to avoid breaking the blade but increase to correct speed once the cut has

started. With the blade guard held firmly against the work surface, start a slow but controlled upward swing of the saw. The blade will cut into and through the material. Always ensure the blade is completely through the material before cutting the remainder of the pocket.

12. Disposal of an exhausted battery packTo preserve natural resources, please recycle or dispose of the battery pack properly. This battery pack contains nickel-cadmium batteries. Consult your local waste authority for information regarding available recycling and/or disposal options. Discharge your battery pack by operating your saw, then remove the battery pack from the saw housing and cover the battery pack connections with heavy duty adhesive tape to prevent short circuit and energy discharge. Do not attempt to open or remove any of the components.

WORKING HINTS FOR YOUR RECIPROCATING SAW

If your power tool becomes too hot, set the speed to maximum and run no load for 2-3 minutes to cool the motor. Always ensure the work-piece is firmly held or clamped to prevent movement.The pivoting foot must be held firmly against the material being cut to reduce saw vibration, blade jumping and blade breakage.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS1. Why does the saw not turn on when you press the switch?The lock off switch (1) is locked and you must depress the button (2) first (See fig3).

2. The saw blade move slowly, Why?If the battery is not fully charged, recharge the battery with the supplied battery charger.Note: Do not charge the battery with a different charger. Charge battery pack only with the charger provided.

3. I can’t fit the battery into the battery charger. Why?The battery can be inserted into the charger only in one direction. Turn the battery around until it can be inserted into the slot, the red LED light should turn on when the battery is charging. (See fig2)

4. Reasons for different charging times.Your charge time can be affected by many reasons - which are not defects in your product. If the battery pack is only partly discharged it may be re-charged in less than 1 hour. If the battery pack and ambient temperature are very cold then re-charging may take 1 to 1 1/2 hours. If the battery pack is very hot it will not re-charge because the internal temperature safety cut-out will prevent it. If hot you must remove your battery pack from the charger and allow your battery pack to cool first to ambient temperature and then recharging can be started. If you charge a second battery pack immediately after the first then the charger can be over-heated. Always allow at least 15 minutes rest between battery pack charging.

5. Reasons for different battery pack working times.Charging time problems, as above, and having not used a battery pack for a prolonged time will reduce the battery pack working time. This can be corrected after several charge and discharge cycles by charging & working with your saw. Do not re-charge your battery pack below 2oC and above 35oC as this will affect performance.

your Local Authority or retailer for recycling advice.

PLUG FITTING

The fuse in the main plug of your power tool should always be replaced with one of identical rating.

Check the voltage given on your power tool matches the supply voltage.

The power tool is supplied with a fitted plug, however if you should need to fit a new plug follows the instruction below.

IMPORTANT The wire in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:Blue ---NeutralBrown ---Live

The wire that is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the letter N. The wire that is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the letter L.

A 13AMP (BS1363 or BS1363/A) plug must be used and a 3 AMP fuse must be fitted.
