Machining Lab

I had an opportunity to conduct a hazard zone inspection of a machining lab at my work.

The adjunct instructor allowed me to view and take pictures of common workplace activities.

For the walk through, I only included yes statements from the checklist.

While operating a drill press or other machining equipment, the worker did have to bend his neck and back with no support

While operating the mill or lathe, the worker routinely had to turn the axis handles in a repetitive motion.

While operating the vise, the worker has to use his hand to loosen the grip.

There is no guard on the grinder and there is more than 1/8” gap between the wheel and the platform
