Knit 2 stitches, then purl 1 stitch from CN. CB4 = Slip 2 stitches onto cable needle & hold in back, knit the next 2 stitches, then knit the 2 stitches from the cable needle. CF4 = Slip 2 stitches onto cable needle & hold in front, knit the next 2 stitches, then knit the 2 stitches from the cable needle. CN = cable needle. RT2 (Right Twist, with one purl stitch) = Slip 1 stitch onto CN and hold in back. Knit next stitch. Purl 1 stitch from CN. I have color coded the row-by-row instructions to improve readability and help delineate cable panels. This scarf is knit in 2 halves and then grafted at the center so that the design appears right-side-up when both ends hang in front. If you do not want to do this, just knit until desired length and then end with a seed stitch border. PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS: Please read "Notes" section before starting. Using DK weight yarn and 5 mm (US8) needles, cast on 52 stitches. Block scarf lightly to get the heart-shaped cable to “bloom”.
