Sunday, October 6, 2019 – Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time - Cycle C Readings: Habakkuk 1: 2-3,; 2: 2-4, Psalm 95 “If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts”, 2 Timothy 1: 6-8, 13-14, Luke 17: 5-10 October – Month dedicated to the Missions and to the Rosary. As we begin the month of October we will start celebrating some of the famous Saints who are very dear to our people. As we take the first steps in the month of October, we remember St. Thérese of Child Jesus (St. Thérese of Lisieux) a young Carmelite nun of the convent of Lisieux in France who impacted the life of many about the “Little Way”, St. Francis of Assisi, the Italian young man who, after his conversion draws many people closer to God. As we celebrate these saints, all of us as God’s people must call to mind our vocation as missionaries, as called by the Lord to undertake this noble and challenging ministry. Perhaps, some of us may think that the missionary life is only for missionary priests, and religious man and women, or consecrat-ed lay people. However, the missionary life is calling to all the baptized, such as all of us have the “mandate” to help others to be in the Path of God. As the Church we dedicated the month of October to pray and to reflect about the Missions, we also take a moment to reflect about asking the intercession to our Blessed Mother to the prayer of the rosary. For some people, who do not understand this de-votion, they view this as merely repetitive prayers, but, if we pay close attention; it is the meditation of the presence of God in the life’s humanity and ministry of Jesus on earth. The Book of the Prophet Habakkuk The first reading of this Sunday is taken from the Prophet Habakkuk, one of Minor Prophets present in the Old Testament, and who teaches us in regard of the justice of God’s government of the world. As the readers reflects on Habakkuk’s book and prophecy they begin to understand the reality during the time of Israel. I’m refer-ring to a broken society that disobeyed God’s law in detriment to live in the fidelity as a chosen race. The book of Habakkuk can be divided into six (6) sections of reflection for a better understanding of the readers as it follows I – Habakkuk’s First complaint (1:2-4) II – God’s response (1:5-11) III- Habakkuk’s Second complaint (1:12---2:1) IV – God’s response (2:2-4) V – Sayings against Tyrants (2:5-20) VI – Hymn about God’s Reign (3:1-19) The Gospel of Today – Luke 17:5-10 There is a connection between Faith and being a Servant. As Jesus teaches the apostles and all of us, he stresses the importance to understand the connection that exists in these words, Faith and being a Servant, there is no separation between them. Certainly, for the apostles it was something new learned from the Lord, as they will undertake more responsibilities when Jesus returns to the Father. Nevertheless, the disciple’s request it is also ours; “Increase our faith.” (Lk. 17:5). In these times of crises in the socie-ty and in the church, we must request to the Lord to help us in increasing our Faith, and we have to ask him doubtless and with confidence. Remain Blessed,

Estimados Feligreses, Estudiantes y Visitantes,

Octubre - Mes dedicado a las Misiones y al Rosario. Al comenzar el mes de octubre, comenzaremos a celebrar a algunos de los famosos santos que son muy queridos por nuestra gente. Cuando damos los primeros pasos en el mes de octubre, recordamos a Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús (Santa Teresa de Li-sieux), una joven monja carmelita del convento de Lisieux en Francia que impactó la vida de muchos sobre el "Pequeño Camino". San Francisco de Asís, el joven italiano que, después de su conversión, acerca a muchas personas a Dios. Al celebrar a estos santos, todos nosotros, como pueblo de Dios, debemos recordar nuestra vocación como misioneros, tal como lo llamó el Señor para emprender este ministerio noble y desafiante. Quizás, algunos de nosotros podamos pensar que la vida misionera es solo para sacerdotes misioneros, religiosos y religiosas, o laicos consagrados. Sin embargo, la vida misionera llama a todos los bautizados, ya que todos tenemos el "mandato" de ayudar a otros a estar en el Camino de Dios. Como Iglesia dedicamos el mes de octubre a rezar y reflexionar sobre las Misiones, también nos tomamos un momento para re-flexionar acerca de pedir la intercesión a nuestra Santísima Madre a la oración del rosario. Para algunas personas, que no en-tienden esta devoción, ven esto como simples oraciones repetitivas, pero si prestamos mucha atención; Es la meditación de la presencia de Dios en la humanidad y el ministerio de Jesús en la tierra.

El libro del profeta Habacuc La primera lectura de este domingo está tomada del Profeta Habacuc, uno de los Profetas Menores presentes en el Antiguo Tes-tamento, y que nos enseña sobre la justicia del gobierno de Dios en el mundo. A medida que los lectores reflexionan sobre el libro y la profecía de Habacuc, comienzan a comprender la realidad durante el tiempo de Israel. Me refiero a una sociedad quebrantada que desobedeció la ley de Dios en detrimento de vivir en la fidelidad como una raza elegida. El libro de Habacuc se puede dividir en seis (6) secciones de reflexión para una mejor comprensión de los lectores como sigue I - La primera queja de Habacuc (1: 2-4) II - La respuesta de Dios (1: 5-11) III- Segunda queja de Habacuc (1:12 --- 2: 1) IV - La respuesta de Dios (2: 2-4) V - Dichos contra los tiranos (2: 5-20) VI - Himno sobre el Reino de Dios (3: 1-19)

El Evangelio de hoy - Lucas 17: 5-10 Hay una conexión entre la fe y ser un siervo. Cuando Jesús enseña a los apóstoles y a todos nosotros, enfatiza la importancia de comprender la conexión que existe en estas palabras, Fe y ser un Siervo, no hay separación entre ellos. Ciertamente, para los apóstoles fue algo nuevo aprendido del Señor, ya que asumirán más responsabilidades cuando Jesús regrese al Padre. Sin embar-go, la solicitud del discípulo también es nuestra; “Aumenta nuestra fe” (Lucas 17: 5). En estos tiempos de crisis en la sociedad y en la iglesia, debemos pedirle al Señor que nos ayude a aumentar nuestra fe, y debemos preguntarle sin dudas y con confianza. Siendo bendecido,

Your Holy Will; inspire in them a love and desire to surrender themselves daily in order that they may serve others in the

Name of Your son, Jesus Christ.
