JANUARY 26, 2020 † ORDINARY TIME III
M y Dear Parish Family,
Recently, our parish was giPed a small
2-rank pipe organ from a church in South
Carolina that was renova8ng and geQng a
larger instrument. This is a great
addi8on to our church as pipe
organs are very expensive and
there was no cost to our parish.
I have donated the costs of
moving, refurbishing and
installa8on of the instrument in
memory of my parents, Leo &
Dorothy Kowalski.
As you can see from the
pictures, this instrument is very
compact and perfect for us, as a
worthy addi8on to the electric piano currently in use, and
the guitars, etc. employed by our Spanish coro.
APer discussion with the organ builder who is overseeing
this project and the
installa8on, and with the
input and support of the
parish council, it was
decided that the best
loca8on of the organ would
be directly in front of the cry
room window on the Saint
Francis (right side) of the
church. The electric piano
and the instruments of
the Spanish coro will also
be moved from their
current loca8on and
consolidated all together
with the organ. A few of
the exis8ng pews will be
removed and relocated
over to the Saint Joseph side. The remaining pews near
the organ will then be able to be
used for the choir and for other
instrumentalists etc. as needed,
and for “overflow” sea8ng, again
as needed. The organ will be
installed by the end of March,
but the shiPing of the pews will
occur shortly. With the installa8on of the organ, the cry
room on the Saint Francis side will be decommissioned
and taken out of service. The Cry Room on the Saint
Joseph’s side will remain for use for parents with children
age 4 and under only and will be monitored by the
ushers.
I understand it is an adjustment for some, but it is
also a wonderful giP to SFA! Fr. Eric
