LOVE ONE ANOTHER In the Gospel for the Sixth Sunday of Easter we are met with an extraordinary challenge: Jesus commands us to “love one another as I love you” (John 15:12). The le er from John echoes this com-mand. Of course, we are to love those in our family, those we work with, those we like. But the scriptures make clear that we are also to love those we never no ce, those we purposely avoid, and even those we are tempted to despise. In this Sunday’s selec on from the Acts of the Apostles Peter shows us how far God’s love extends, and how far our love should extend in response. Peter realizes that God no longer “shows par-

ality” to the Jews, sharing divine love exclusively with them. Christ has revealed that God’s love extends to all people, and so should ours. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

RENMEN YOUN LÒT Nan Levanjil sizyèm Dimanch Pak la nou fe fas avèk yon defi ekstraòdinè: Jezi kòmande nou pou nou " renmen youn lòt menm jan mwen renmen nou" (Jan 15:12). Lèt Jan an mete anpil aksan sou kòmandman sa a. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Stewardship – “This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” – JOHN 15:12-13 Do you love Jesus? Do you consider Him your friend? Jesus says that if we love Him we would be willing to offer whatever we have to Him, not because we want praise and glory, but simply because we love Him. Does your giving seem mechanical out of obliga on or do you share freely out of love?

Sunday, May 06, 2018 SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER : The age of idols Celebrity rules. Or so it seems. Every headline, photo shoot, and news crawl seeks to remind us that no matter what we’re doing at the moment, someone’s living a reality that is so much cooler. We may secretly desire to be one of the beautiful people, to taste the sweetness of that success. Consider that folks who do command a high public profile like Pope Fran-cis, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and the Dalai Lama have all repeated that they are mere mortals, doing nothing more than we all should be doing. Want fame? Pursue sainthood. A good read this week would be the new encyclical letter from Pope Francis “Rejoice and be Glad” which is on “how to grow in holiness” TODAY'S READINGS: Acts 10:25-26, 34-35, 44-48; 1 John 4:7-10; John 15:9-17 (56). “Peter, however, raise him up, saying, ‘Get up. I myself am also a human being.’” Dimanch 6 Me, 2018 SIZYÈM DIMANCH PAK : Tan pou Zidòl Li sanble sila yo ki pi popilè yo se yo k ‘ap mennen.

LEKTI JODIYA : Tr. Apot 10 :25-26, 34-35, 44-48 ; 1 Jan 4 :7-10 ; Jan 15 :9-17 (56). Kifè, Pyè ede l kanpe, epi li di l’ : mwen menm tou mwen se yon moun parèy ou.”

PARKING LOT CHARITY AND COURTESY Please be mindful when parking your car There is always plenty of parking available around the church and under the bridge. “Fire Lanes” are exactly THAT. There are lanes to be left open for an emergency for Fire or Emergency vehicles. Fire lanes are not park-ing lanes. Cars parked in a fire lane can be towed accord-ing to code. We have not enforced this hoping for common sense and courtesy. However, we may have to do this for emergency safety sake. Please park under the bridge when the regular parking places around the church are all taken up. Thank you for your charity and for your courtesy in this very important matter.
