A few of you have asked whether St. James will be offering volunteer opportunities to the inner city of Milwaukee through the Micah 6:8 program again this summer. In a nutshell, the answer is no. That’s

certainly not to say that service work opportunities won’t be offered to the inner city, but after discussing the current work camp program offered with several St. James parishioners and staff, as well as volunteers, and organization heads, it was concluded that there is a great need for help right here in the St. James community and surrounding areas in addition to the

inner city of Milwaukee.

I am currently working on comprising a list of local organizations that would benefit from a visit from a St. James work crew. Once I get the list put together, I’ll schedule work days and offer them in the form of a sign up genius for families or groups to sign up. This will give each of us the flexibility to schedule service work experiences around our busy schedules while allowing each of us the experience of helping others in

need on various levels. What a great thing to teach our kids!

So, while we will not be heading into the inner city this summer, rest assured the service work experience will continue to be offered to our parishioners, and more importantly, to those organizations who work tirelessly to bring help to those most

vulnerable and in need.

Be watching later this summer for a listing of the various locations, opportunities and work details that you can sign up

for. Hopefully, there’ll be something for everyone!

Peace~

We are holding a parish-wide rummage sale July 20-21 in the

St. James Activity Center. This will be an important fundraiser.

The tentative schedule is for drop off in the AC from Friday, July

13 through Monday, July 16 (sorry, NO early drop offs—we

don’t have anywhere to store them); sorting and pricing on Tues-

Wed-Thur, July 17-19; the sale itself on July 20-21; and pack up/

pastor!

Our deepest and most sincere thanks to all who turned out for

our second planting session last Saturday - we couldn’t have

done it without you! Our next get together will be on

Saturday June 30 from 9am to noon. This is a great

opportunity for youth service hours. Bring gardening gloves, a

pad to kneel on, narrow rakes if you have them, and whatever

type of hand tools you like to use. Questions? Call the parish

office at 262-363-7615, or email John McCormack at

Parish Rummage Sale Gardening Thanks

Dear Friends,

Many thanks to all of the parishioners from both Saints Theresa and James Parishes for helping to

celebrate the Golden Anniversary of my ordination to the Priesthood.

The voices of the combined choirs and musicians, the delicious snacks, schnecks and beverages,

those who helped prepare the foods and serve the three post-Mass gatherings, all who planned the

event, and the framed montage of historical photos, all contributed to a memorable anniversary

party. For a moment I thought I might be starting a new, tent ministry in my retirement, ala Neil

Diamond’s “Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show.” (Google it. LOL!) Fortunately for me,

and for folks everywhere, that is not the case. I’m not going on the road.

Instead, God willing, I will continue offering my ministry (primarily) to our parishes as we go

forward into the future together as two separate but collaborating faith communities.

I look forward to assisting Fr. Loyola as he accepts the call of the Holy Spirit as the next pastor of Saints Theresa and James Parishes.

Our parishes will continue to flourish under his leadership. So I say again, “Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.” I have been greatly

blessed in my first 50 years as a priest. I would do it all over again without hesitation. Please continue to pray for an increase of

vocations to the priesthood.

Blessings and peace! Fr. Dennis
