Stewardship Note: It’s easy to understand the definition of stewardship. The hard part is living it! What do you do to live God’s word? Do you share your time in prayer with God? Do you use your talent to help those in need? Are you generous with your financial resources? If not, what are you waiting for?

In the middle of a political campaign season, a retreat director, an elderly Jesuit who had seen a few cam-paigns in his day, spoke about judging the character of the candidates. He said that you take the measure of a person by looking at the FACTS—friends, actions, convictions, time and sincerity. Pay attention to what he does and where he goes and what friends he has, and you will know what kind of person he really is. Jesus said much the same thing. You will know them by their fruits. God does not judge from the outside, but from the inside. Empty rituals and religious practices do not make a person holy. Rituals and practices have a purpose and meaning that brings us to the moment of truth when we choose God over all else. It is openness to grace, the conversion of heart and the purity of spirit that truly conforms one to the image and likeness of God. A heart given in faith to God is close to Him, filled with prayer, praise, wonder and awe. We can judge ourselves by the FACTS—faith, attitude, compassion, truth and sincerity. It is easy to fall into the trap of the Pharisees and go through the motions of faith without real commitment. Be a friend of God.

Be mindful of Him and pray often. Let faith penetrate your soul and everywhere you go, everything you do, and everyone you know will see the Lord at work in you.

VOTIVE MASS AND NOVENA TO ST. JOSEPH

Please make an effort this Wednesday, September 5, to attend devotions to our Patron Saint at the 7 p.m Mass. St. Joseph is a patron saint of so many people who have a variety of needs, patron of fathers, good provider, patron of dying, patron of difficult situations and family life, and for those who are searching for employment.

We have a great opportunity every Wednesday to encounter his powerful intercessions in our various needs. This week Holy Rosary Sodality will carry the statue into the sanctuary.

NATIVITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY On Saturday, September 8th, we celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Occurring exactly nine months after the Feast of the Immaculate Conception (where Mary was conceived in her mother’s womb without original sin), this day marks when Mary was born to Saints Anne and Joachim. The Nativity of Mary is a very popular feast in the Catholic world as it is the sign of a new life. It is one of the few feasts in the church where a birth is commemo-rated, as opposed to death. Farmers typically choose to plant their crops around this feast day in order to ensure a fruitful bounty. Wives pray on this feast to ask for God’s favor that they may conceive.

FEAST OF SAINT TERESA OF CALCUTTA

Saint Teresa of Calcutta (India), com-monly known as “Mother Teresa,” is a popular modern saint and was the foundress of the Missionaries of Char-ity, a religious order which serves the poorest of the poor, while living among them. They care for those plagued with disease and left to the streets and in doing so restore their human dignity. Saint Teresa died in

1997, was beatified in 2003 and was canonized in 2016. We cele-brate her feast on September 5, which is the anniversary of her death. Saint Teresa of Calcutta, Pray for Us!

LABOR DAY This Monday, Labor Day, is a United States federal holiday ob-served on the first Monday in September and celebrated since 1882. Traditionally this day signifies the end of summer when Americans enjoy picnics, barbecues, parades, etc. In our work we find peace, fulfillment and holiness if it is done with the love for God and our families.

St. Joseph School and the rectory will be closed on Sept. 3rd. We wish everyone a pleasant and safe Labor Day!

GYM COLLECTION UPDATE: In August, we collected $1789 from parishioners envelopes. We thank you for your con-tinued support as this monumental project nears completion.

ST. JOSEPH WOMEN’S CLUB Zarząd SJWC zaprasza wszystkie członkinie Klubu na zebranie w związku z planowanym dorocznym kiermaszem SPLASH OF PANACHE. Sporkanie odbędzie się w czwartek, 6 września o godz. 18:30 w szkole.

KORONKA DO MIŁOSIERDZIA BOŻEGO W najbliższą niedzielę, jak w każdą pierwszą niedzielę miesiąca, zapraszamy o godz. 15:00 na Koronkę do Miłosierdzia Bożego. Wykorzystajmy tę okazje jaką stwarza dla nas Miłosierny Jezus w godzinę swojej Męki, obiecując nam zdroje łask i swoją opiekę.

KLUB 125

16:00. Prosimy o wcześniejsze zgłoszenie chęci uczestnictwa. Działalność Klubu wspomaga opłaty za ogrzewanie w naszej szkole. Dzięujemy za wszelką pomoc.

DZIEŃ POLSKI W Sanktuarium Miłosierdzia Bożego w Stockbridge w sobotę, 15 września odbędą się obchody Dnia Polskiego. Uroczysta Msza św. pod przewodnictwem księdza biskupa Witolda Mroziewskiego zostanie odprawiona o godz. 13:00. Od godziny 10:00 będzie możliwość skorzystania z Sakramentu Spowiedzi.

WYBORY DO RADY PARAFIALNEJ

SYSTEM OGRZEWANIA I CHŁODZENIA W KOŚCIELE Po raz kolejny pragniemy wyrazić ogromną wdzięczność parafianom, którzy wspierają odnowę systemu grzewczego i klimatyzacji w naszej bazylice. Cały koszt przedsięwzięcia to $27898.40.
