urrection, O Lord, glory be to You.
For the Forefathers. Tone 2. By faith You justified the
Forefathers, having through them betrothed to
yourself the Church that came out of the nations.
The saints are boasting in glory; for the glorious
fruit, the Virgin who without seed gave birth to
You, is from their progeny. At their entreaties, O
Christ our God, save our souls.
For the Hierarch. Tone 1.You were a champion of the
First Ecumenical Council, * O Spyridon, our God-
bearing Father and worker of miracles. * You ad-
dressed your daughter who was dead and en-
tombed, * and you opportunely turned a snake into
gold. * There were Angels celebrating along with
you, * O sacred man, when you served the holy lit-
urgy. * Glory to Christ who glorified you! * Glory to
Him who put a crown on you! * Glory to Him who
through you gives cures and healing to all!
Parish Hymn Tone 4. A rule of faith are you,
and an icon of gentleness, and a teacher of self-
control. And to your flock this was evident, by the
truth of your life and deeds. You were humble and
therefore you acquired exalted gifts, treasure in
heaven for being poor. O Father and Hierarch St.
Nicholas, intercede with Christ our God, and en-
treat Him to save our souls.

Εpistle Lesson: Eph. 5:8-19 .
Brethren, walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and
true), and try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of dark-
ness, but instead expose them. For it is a shame even to speak of the things that they do in se-
cret; but when anything is exposed by the light it becomes visible, for anything that becomes
visible is light. Therefore it is said, "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall
give you light." Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the
most of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what
the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled
with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and
making melody to the Lord with all your heart.

Gospel reading Lk. 14:16-24
The Lord said this parable: "A man once gave a great banquet, and invited many; and at the time of the
banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, 'Come; for all is now ready.' But they all
alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, 'I have bought a field, and I go out and see it; I pray
you, have me excused.' And another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I must go to examine
them; I pray you, have me excused.' And another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot
come.' So the servant came and reported this to his master. Then the householder in anger said to his
servant, 'Go out quickly to the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor and maimed and blind
and lame.' And the servant said, 'Sir, what you commanded has been done, and there is still room.' And
the master said to the servant, 'Go out to the highways and hedges, and compel people to come in, that
my house may be filled. For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste my banquet. For
many are called, but few are chosen.'" servant, 'Go out to the highways and hedges, and compel people to
come in, that my house may be filled. For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste my
banquet. For many are called, but few are chosen.'"

Prayer for the Month
Oh God, our loving Creator and Giver of all good gifts,
bless our parish, strengthen our faith
and grant us the spirit of Christian stewardship
so that we may give generously of our time,
talent and treasure to spread Your kingdom
here in our church and throughout the world.
Please remember our St. Nicholas Shrine Church of Flushing in your Will or Trust.
Please consider leaving a charitable bequest.
S T E W A R D S H I P Stewardship is…
not a program . . . it is a way of life.
not an activity . . . it is the way we live our life every day.
not the latest fad . . . it is biblically based.
not a way to raise money . . .it is a way to attain holiness.
not just a decision of the head . . . it requires a conversion of the heart.
not an option . . . integral to our Orthodox faith.
not another thing to do . . . why and how we do what we do.
not about our generosity . . . about our response to God’s generosity.
what you do after you say, “I believe”.
Our Stewardship program runs on a calendar basis – January through December
each year. It is not too late to join our stewardship family.
We would ask those who have, to please try to complete your 2021
commitment by end of the year.
Our goal for 2021 is 100% participation of our Church family by reaching out
and encouraging those who do not participate in the Stewardship of Treasure.
