Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Attending Mass at St. Philip’s As we welcome you back to our parish home, we also recognize that not everything can return to normal just yet. Following the requirements of civil and diocesan authorities, we will observe special safety precautions for Masses and events at this time. We will also continue to offer live-streaming for those who still need to stay safe at home.
Church Capacity Limitations At this time, we are permitted to have a congregation of 50% of the seating capacity in our buildings.
Required Precautions · Wear a face mask or scarf
· Sanitize hands on entering the buildings (if possible, please bring a personal bottle)
· Maintain distance between yourself and others (please allow ushers to direct you to a seat in the church) Nursery services are not available at this time.
Am I Obliged to Attend Mass? The obligation to physically attend Mass is still lifted through the time of this pandemic, especially for those over the age of 60, the immuno-compromised, or caretakers of vulnerable individuals. Please join us via live-stream at our parish website or on Facebook.

SAVE THE DATE: Spiritual Adoption Baby Shower After all Masses the weekend of October 17/18, 2020 Thank you to all who are praying for a spiritually adopted baby! We’ve had a tremendous response to this year’s adoption. We will be holding a “baby shower” celebration after each Mass the weekend of Oct. 17-18, and will be collecting baby items and maternity clothing, to be dis-tributed to local pregnancy centers. All parishioners are welcome to join in this celebration. If any home crafters would care to make homemade items, that would be greatly appreciated!
Beirut Blast Relief: Special Emergency Collection In response to the recent explosion in Beirut, Lebanon, Most Reverend Michael F. Olson has announced an emergency special collection in the Diocese of Fort Worth on August 22-23. Funds collected will be for-warded to Caritas Lebanon through Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Cath-olic Church in Lewisville to distribute emergency supplies, clear rubble and prepare medical and mental health teams for dispatch. Please gen-erously support this collection through our parish online giving or by visiting stphilipcc.weshareonline.org to make a secure online donation.

Meet Sr. Anima Christi Rose Pray for Sister and all vocations from our area! Sr. Anima Christi Rose, daughter of Antony Chirayath and Rogy Antony, grew up frequenting St. Phillip the Apostle Catholic Church with her family. Sr. Anima Christi is a native to the Lewisville area, attending Lewisville High School and the Uni-versity of North Texas where she received her Bachelor's and Master's in Speech-Language Pathology. Fol-lowing her studies, she served as a missionary with FOCUS, the Fellow-ship of Catholic University Students, for two years at Tulane University in New Orleans, prior to entering reli-gious life. She is a member of the religious institute of the Sisters of Life, and recently professed her first vows as a Sister of Life.
About the Sisters of Life A contemplative/active community founded by John Cardinal O'Connor in 1991 in New York, the Sisters of Life are consecrated to the charism of life, so that each person may know and experience the dignity of their own life and every human life. Sisters of Life take a fourth vow to protect and enhance the sacredness of life and, while the community's primary work is prayer, the sisters accompany those who are vulnerable in various missions, including supporting pregnant mothers vulnerable to abortion, retreats throughout the year for spiritual renewal, evangeli-zation, college campus ministry, and healing for those suffering after the experience of abortion. Learn more on the Sisters of Life website - sistersoflife.org “This is the charism of the Sisters of Life: to mother the mothers of the unborn; to mother the unborn; to mother all those who are frail, all of those who are vulnerable, all those who are ill, all of those who are in danger of being put to death, all those whose lives the world considers useless. Our Lord says to each Sister of Life, 'Woman, behold your son. Behold your daughter.'”
~John Cardinal O’Connor

Watch Construction Progress LIVESee live-stream footage of construction on our new church at stphilipcc.org/buildstphilip
The Walls are Going Up! We have entered a new phase of construction as we begin work on the structure. This phase includes the steel and concrete framing of our walls, as well as the trusses of the church’s roof, the door and win-dow framing, and weatherproofing.
How It’s Done The walls of our church will be made from concrete, so the first step is to set up the hollow forms you see in the pictures. These foam blocks are stacked in place around the wooden window forms. Rebar is suspended between the foam blocks, and then the middle is filled with concrete.
Pray for Our Workers As the building project continues, please remember to pray for the safety of all the workers on our con-struction site.

A NEW OPPORTUNITY
Adoring Our Lord From Your Home: Can You Watch One Hour? Take one hour of one night in the month of September to adore Our Lord from your home.
What does it mean to adore Jesus from home? Many are unable to physically come to the church to adore Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, but we can spiritually adore Him from anywhere by placing ourselves spiritually before His Eucharistic Presence. As with spiritual communion, spiritual “adoration” is not the same as encounter-ing the physical Presence of Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist, but it offers many graces and consolations that are so necessary in these times.
Why at night? The purpose of nightly spiritual adoration is to keep the Sacred Heart company, to make reparation for the sins occurring during the night, especially those against the family. This method of prayer can also draw families closer to each other and to the Sacred Heart.
When Sign up for an hour (or hours) in which to offer spiritual “adoration,” either as an individu-al or together with your family. Our parish goal is to fill the hours of 9 PM–6 AM each night during the month of September!
Where In your own home, place yourself in front of any image of Our Lord, but especially an image of His Sa-cred Heart. If you don’t have one already, make a “prayer corner” in your home where you can be recollected.
Who Anyone can participate! You can take an hour for individual prayer, or gather with family members.
How Begin by thinking of the Holy Eucharist and placing yourself spiritually in the Presence of Our Lord. Ways you can spend this Hour: prayer (especially the Rosary), spiritual reading, meditation, or simply silence.
Sign up for an hour at stphilipcc.org/watch
“Fervent souls, souls that are on fire with great love for Jesus, meditate on this appeal before the tabernacle, and may Jesus in the Eucharist pour out His Heart into yours, telling you Himself of His immense sadness when, during the dark hours of the night, Satan goes about the world inciting men to evil. Jesus wishes to forestall the enemy and to kindle in your hearts the fire of His love. But He waits until He is invited and wel-comed to the sanctuary of your home. Then He will come and allow Himself to be made prisoner, entrusting His Heart to you and flooding with graces your dwelling thus transformed into a house of prayer.”
~Fr. Mateo Crawley-Boevey

Growing in Grace
Prayer for the Week “Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.” -The Raccolta, 314
Devotion to Mary is a way of completely and totally devoting one’s self to Jesus Christ as a gift, appealing to Mary as our intermediary. We allow the Mother to bring us to the Son. Here are three great devotions to Our Lady
First Saturdays This devotion is from the Fatima Message to St. Lucia for reparation of the injuries that the Immaculate Heart of Mary suffers from the indiffer-ent, immoral, and wicked. You can participate in this devotion by doing the following four actions on the First Saturday during 5 consecutive months: 1. Go to Confession. 2. Receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion. 3. Say five decades of the Rosary. 4. Meditate for 15 minutes on the mysteries of the Rosary.
The Green Scapular The Green Scapular is a scapular of conversion, the Badge of the Im-maculate Heart of Mary, offering strengthening in faith, protections against Satan, and a happy death. Those who wear this scapular are to say “Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of death” daily.
The Morning Offering O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You all my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for my sins, for the intentions of all my associates, and in particular for the inten-tions of the Holy Father this month. Amen. -Courtesy of Stewardship Committee

Spiritual Adoption Update: Month 7 of Your Baby’s Development “I Can Look Around!” Beginning this month the baby uses four sens-es. His eyelids open and close and the eyes look around. The baby can taste, touch, cough, yawn, and hiccup. He now recognizes his own mother’s voice, and he responds when her voice reaches his ears. His grip is even stronger now than it will be after his birth. The hair on his head is growing longer and the downy covering on the rest of his body is disappearing. During this time the baby will receive antibodies from his mother providing him immunity to a wide variety of diseases. Please remember to pray daily for your spiritually adopted baby. He or she is counting on you!
