Christmas blessings to you and yours! God is with us–Emmanuel! Merry Christmas!
Welcome to all our visitors, family members, former parishioners, and young people home for the Christmas holiday. It is always our privilege to share the Presence of the Lord in Word and Sacrament. Please know that you are always welcome at St. Therese!
If you are visiting and searching for a parish faith community, please know that you are welcome to join our parish. A registration form can be accessed online from our website–www.sainttheresemilwaukee.org or get a form from one of the tables at the entrances of the church.
God is with us–Emmanuel! We celebrate this great mystery of our faith, that God so loved us that God became one of us through Jesus. God is ever near us, and the message of Christmas affirms that closeness.
Let us remember all who are unable to join us around the Table of the Lord today, especially the sick and suffering and those estranged from family and friends.
Let us give thanks for the greatest gift of all–Jesus, our Lord and Savior!
We welcome to our faith community our three candidates preparing for the Easter sacraments–Eleuterio Valdovinos, Nichole Locke, and Laura Danninger. Their sponsors are Kevin and Marita Stannis (and their children, Maddy and Oliver) and Pat Rickert.
Last weekend we celebrated the Rite of Welcoming at our 9:00AM mass.
In next weekend’s bulletin, there will be a long list of those who ministered to make our Advent and Christmas liturgies run smoothly and beautifully. Please take the time to read the list.
Finally, we continue to pray for peace this Holy Season!
God be with you...Emmanuel!

A Stewardship Moment
Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord (Christmas) – December 24th/25th
Amidst the beautiful readings at the Christmas Masses is a reading from a small New Testament letter from Saint Paul to his protégé, Titus, read at Midnight Mass. Saint Paul reminds Titus that God has given us a gift in the person of Jesus Christ. This gift represents God’s active presence in our lives and in our world. This gift redeems us from evil and death. This gift purifies us as God’s people. This is a gift that also comes with an expectation: that we receive it with thanksgiving, allow it to transform us into Christ’s image; and from it, learn how to live a life “eager to do what is good.” Take time the next few days to reflect on the marvelous gift we celebrate at Christmas, and how we might become better stewards of this gift.
Save Your Box Tops and Labels for
Education
Everyday can be “gift giving” for our Catholic schools when the “Labels for Education” and the education “Box Tops” are shared. Thank you for all who have been doing this. Pull taps are also appreciated.

Maybe they need someone to ease their loneliness. Basically they need the kinds of things that neighbors do for one another. If you are looking for meaningful ways to help others and improve the quality of life for our neighborhood seniors, call Greater Tosa Interfaith and find out how satisfying it is to be a volunteer at (414) 453-5750.

Everyday Stewardship: Inspiring and Practical
Insights on Stewardship as a Way of Life
Tracy Welliver, Dynamic Catholic speaker, author, teacher, and Director of Parish Community and Engagement for Liturgical Publications, Inc. will present this session on the following days:
Tuesday, February 7th from 6:30PM–8:00PM at St. Patrick, Elkhorn
Wednesday, February 8th from 10:00AM–11:30AM and repeated from 6:30PM–8:00PM at the Cousins Center, Milwaukee
Thursday, February 9th from 6:30PM–8:00PM at Holy Family, Fond du Lac
The focus of this session is everyday stewardship in everyday language for everyday people. The program will help to explain the “what next” after we have made a conscious decision to take our discipleship seriously. Grounded in the parables of Jesus, and reflecting the teachings and Spirit of the Church, this message will be presented in a way that sheds new light on the true meaning of good stewardship. Thanks in part to the Catholic Stewardship Appeal, there is no cost for this program, but you are asked to register at www.archmil.org/synod or contact Rosalita Villa, [email protected] or (414) 758-2217.
You Can Make A Difference!
Catholic Charities is in need of volunteer teachers and teaching assistants for our Refugee Resettlement program. We need of adult volunteers to help teach English as a Second Language (ESL), Cultural Orientation, Driver’s Permit Test Classes and Citizenship classes. Absolutely no prior experience is necessary. This is a great opportunity to work with refugees from all around the world that are rebuilding their lives here in Milwaukee. This program depends on volunteers to run and the need now is greater than ever. Our classes are very laid back and a lot of fun. We guarantee you will learn as much from our students as they learn from you. Contact our ESL Coordinator, JoAnn Bouikidis at (414) 771-2881 or via email at: [email protected].
Liturgical Ministry Day, January 28th
Liturgical Ministry Day, a one-day program at the Cousins Center, is open to all liturgical and pastoral music ministers. It offers enlightening breakout sessions covering a variety of subjects to form individuals to better prepare them in their ministries as Disciples of Christ. It provides an opportunity for formation, information, fellowship and prayer for those involved in the Church’s liturgical and music ministries in parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
The keynote speakers are VaLimar Jansen and Timothy O’Malley. Ms. Jansen is a highly regarded inspirational/catechetical speaker, singer, composer and recording artist. Dr. O’Malley is the director at Notre Dame Center of Liturgy and will speak on “Outreach to Millennials,” an important aspect of ministries.
The workshop is a collaboration between the Office for Worship and the Archdiocesan Liturgical Musicians’ Association. Registration is $25. Visit archmil.regfox.com/liturgical-ministry-day to register.
Christ Alive in Our Marriage Retreat

Spend the day hearing talks by other young couples, talking with your spouse and other couples, and praying and reflecting as a couple. The retreat will be held on Saturday, January 28th at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist (Downtown Milwaukee) beginning at 10:00AM and concluding with the 5:15PM Mass at the parish. Information and Registration can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/ChristAliveinOurMarriage2017.
