•BAPTISMS / BAUTIZOS/ BATTESIMO Baptism are celebrated once a month on a Sunday after the 12:30 Mass in Spanish and 2:00pm in English. The dates for the Baptism of children and for the Pre-Baptismal instruction of parents should be arranged in the rectory ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE. In addition to English, and Spanish this Sacrament may also be in Italian.

•WEDDINGS/ MATRIMONIO Pre–marital instruction is a requirement for all engaged couples. Consequently, arrangements for weddings should be made SIX MONTHS in advance.

“Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, is a descendant of David: such is my gospel, for which I am suffering, even to the point of chains, like a criminal. But the Word of God is not chained. Thus I bear with everything for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, together with eternal glory.” At every Eucharist, or in a quiet reflective moment, God speaks to us through the scriptures. We open our hearts to what the Lord has to say, and gently,

softly, His word moves us to a deeper union with Him. For this to happen, it requires several steps. I begin by acknowledging that God is addressing me, at this moment, in this text. I simply ask ‘Lord what do you wish for me to take from this reading today?’ I wonder how the power of the word may direct my life. Think for a moment. If each person in our parish community would ask these questions and seek the Lord’s response, our lives would be radically changed, our concern for those around me would grow and the unchained word would spread more effectively in my world. God speaks, I hear and listen, and others allow their response to blend with mine to obtain the salvation in Christ Jesus. “Acuérdate de Jesucristo, que resucitó de entre los muertos y es descendiente de David. Esta es la Buena Noticia que yo predico, por la cual sufro y estoy encadenado como un malhechor. Pero la palabra de Dios no está encadenada. Por eso soporto estas pruebas por amor a los elegidos, a fin de que ellos también alcancen la salvación que está en Cristo Jesús y participen de la gloria eterna.” En cada eucaristía, o momento de reflexión, Dios nos habla a través de las escrituras. Abrimos nuestros corazones a lo que el Señor quiere decir, y gentil, suavemente, Sus palabras nos llevan a una unión más profunda con El. Para que esto suceda se necesitan varios pasos. Empiezo por aceptar que Dios se dirige a mí, en este momento, en su texto. Simplemente pregunto: ‘Señor, ¿qué quieres que aprenda de esta lectura hoy?’ Me pregunto cómo el poder de la palabra puede dirigir mi vida. Piense por un momento. Si cada persona de la parroquia de nuestra comunidad hiciera estas preguntas y buscara las respuesta del Señor, nuestras vidas cambiarían radicalmente, nuestra preocupación por los que nos rodean crecería y la palabra desencadenada se extendería más eficazmente en mi mundo. Dios habla, yo oigo y escucho, y otros permiten que sus respuestas se mezclen con la mía para obtener la salvación en Jesucristo.

Cristo si definisce di fronte ad un mondo diviso in due: quello degli oppressori senza Dio e senza cuore, e quello degli oppressi senza protezione. Egli scopre un peccato: il peccato sociale, più forte che mai, antico quanto l’uomo; ed egli lo analizza in profondità nell’ingenuità di una parabola dalla quale trae un duplice insegnamento. Quello del clamore che sale verso Dio gridando l’ingiustizia irritante in una preghiera fiduciosa e senza risentimento, tenacemente serena e senza scoraggiamenti, con la

sicurezza che verrà ascoltata da un giudice che diventa il Padre degli orfani e il consolatore delle vedove. D’altro canto, Gesù stesso prende posizione, rivoltandosi come una forza trasformatrice dell’uomo su questa terra deserta di ogni pietà, per mezzo della risposta personale della sua propria sofferenza, agonizzante, in un giudizio vergognoso, senza difesa e senza colpa. Neanche lui viene ascoltato, ma si abbandona ciecamente a suo Padre, dalla sua croce, che ottiene per tutti la liberazione. La sua unica forza viene dal potere di una accettazione, certa, ma profetica, denunciante. Ci chiede, dalla sua croce: quando ritornerò a voi troverò tutta questa fede, che prega nella rivolta?

be celebrated at 9am in the CHURCH. The 8am and 7:30pm masses will not be celebrated.
