April 21, 2019 —Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord

Coming Soon… Making the Family Room Handicap Accessible! As a parish family, we enjoy fellowship in the Family Room downstairs at Saint Joseph Church. It is a hardship for some to go down the stairs. After much research we have found the best solution is a Wheelchair Lift, to assist those who need it. The Wheelchair Lift would come down the stairs from the outside doors that lead directly down to the Family Room. To access it, you would need to come out the

side entrance of the church, go down the ramp and over to the glass doors. (The lift is also meant to be used by those with walkers, canes and other impediments!) It will enhance the use of the Family Room and give all a chance to participate in functions downstairs without impacting the use of the stairs. No definite date has been set for construction to begin, but we will continue to keep everyone updated on the status of the project.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month Did you know? The Diocese of Manchester requires all those who work with children and youth in our parishes, schools, and camps to complete “safe environment” training. This training teaches adults to recognize and report suspected abuse and boundary violations. Training is offered free of charge to all NH Catholic adults and is available online at https://manchester.cmgconnect.org For more information about child safety, visit www.catholicnh.org/safety

Spring Giving Tree Coming Soon!

This year Saints Mary and Joseph Parish will once

again be helping needy children in Salem with

summer clothes. Look for tags by the entrances

at both churches the weekend of April 27th-/28th.

New, unwrapped donations are to be returned to

the parish by May 19th. Feel free to contact Laura

Andolino at (978)882-2657 with any questions.

Help make a difference for those in need!

Easter-to-Pentecost: The Season to Look for Jesus Walking Amongst Us

Can we find evidence in the news of resurrection, renewal, and progress? Using Catholic Social Principles, we will analyze articles from The Christian Science Monitor. We will try to see the world’s problems against a backdrop of human progress. The Monitor is a Pulitzer Prize award-winning, global news magazine. It uses “Solutions Journalism,” where hope is imbedded within the writing. The Monitor does not promote any specific set of policies, actions, or ideologies. For the seven weeks between Easter and Pentecost (April 21 to June 9), we will gather in our homes to discuss news articles. We’ll be provided with a weekly copy of the news magazine. Preparation for each week is expected to be two hours of reading and reflection. Meeting length is two hours, with day and time set for the convenience of participants. If you are interested, contact Dan Yetter at 603-893-5429 or [email protected]

Spring Cleaning The week of May 13 – 18 we are holding a parish-wide Spring Cleaning Event of all the parish buildings: the two churches, St. Julie Hall and the Youth Center. We will need help with dusting, washing windows, walls and other light cleaning. We will provide all the cleaning supplies, we just need people willing to exert a little elbow grease! If you happen to be handy with power tools, we have ten curtain rods that need to be installed at St. Julie Hall after the windows are cleaned! If you can spare an hour or two, or perhaps a whole morning or afternoon, please call Paul at the office, ext. 104 to secure your spot. We appreciate all the help! Many hands make light work!
