Thesurvey gathers constantly updated price points for awide set of products and services representative ofexpatriates’ common expenses. The collected dataundergoes validation, statistical analysis and testing. Itis cross-checked and enhanced with data from othersources available online, including the UN StatisticsDivision and the World Bank. Spurious data is detectedand discarded.

The index is calculated net-to-net, excluding taxesother than those charged at the moment of payment,such as sales or value-added taxes. Inflation rates areused to update data when appropriate.
