  • RED RIBBON WEEK

Red Ribbon Week was a great success! Our theme this year was “I ‘MUSTACHE’ you to stay away from drugs!” Students were asked to participate in different activities this year.

Our counselor, Mrs. Ramos arranged for Jesusa Sanchez-Vera to come and speak with the kids about why we observe Red Ribbon Week and the importance of staying away from drugs!

  • SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

With the changing weather come the colds, flu, and various other communicable diseases. It is very important to do all we can to prevent the illnesses that cause student absence. Some things you can do are making sure your child washes his hands frequently, and gets plenty of rest.

While it is very important for the students to be in attendance every day, please remember students with fever, vomitting, or diarrhea should not be in class. Children must be free from those symptoms for 24 hours before they return to school.

Here at Magee, daily instruction begins at 7:50 a.m. Students who are continually late to school miss important information, disrupt the class, and may feel embarrassed in front of other students.

Students who arrive at school after 7:50 a.m. are considered tardy and are given a tardy slip. Students who receive 4 tardy slips in a nine weeks period will lose recess privilege for that day and for every succesive tardy which occurs during that nine weeks. Parents of students who have 10 or more tardies or early dismissals in a semester may also receive a compulsory attendance letter and be subject to truancy charges.

As parents, your cooperation in having your students arrive at school on time ensures that your child receives every opportunity to experience success in school. Together we can reinforce responsible actions for all our students.

The following students have Bell To Bell Perfect Attendance for the first 9-weeks. To qualify for this list, students had to be in attendance “bell to bell”, ie. no tardies, no absences, no early dismissals.
