FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY SAP Ranked #1 Worldwide BI, Analytics, and Performance Management Leader Competitive Sales Alert April 20, 2011 SAP has been n amed #1 Worldwide Market Share Leader in Business Intelligence, Analytics, and Performance Management Software by top Industry Analyst firm SUMMARY SAP has once again been named the overall market share leader in the worldwide business intelligence (BI) market, owning nearly a quarter of the market according to the April 2011 report 1 issued byGartner Inc.–“Market Share Analysis: Business Intelligence (BI), Analytics and Performance Management, 2010, Worldwide .” The combined BI market encompasses BI platforms, corporate performance management (CPM) suites, analytic applications and performance management. In the report, SAP ranks number one with 23 percent share of the worldwide market, reflecting a 16.8 percent growth from 2009 reversing negative growth the prior year. Key Highlights from Report: SAP had a tremendous year in 2010, ranking number one for the entire BI, analytics and performance management space with 23% market share. SAP is growing at 16.8% which is faster than the overall market (which grew at 13.4%) and is gaining market share, increasing from 22% in 2009 to 2 3% in 2010: “SAP is the dominant leader in the combined BI market (platforms, CPM suites, and analytic applications andperformance management), owning nearly a quarter of the market. The vendor is particularly dominant in BIplatform market share. Impressively, SAP managed faster-than-average growth, capturing net-new share.”SAP was ranked number one in BI market share with 27%, almost double that of IBM and Microsoft 14%. The 16% growth in SAP BI was higher than Oracle and IBM Cognos at 16%. SAP was ranked number two in CPM with 23.9% market share, behind Oracle’s number one 27.6%. SAP’s CPM growth rate of 19.6% was higher than Oracle’s (18.9%) and the CPM market (12.8%). 2 SAP ranks number four in Analytical Apps and Performance Management with 6.4% share, after SAS, FICO and Oracle. In the report, Gartner found the total BI market to have increased 13.4% from 2009 to approximately $10.5 billion in 2010. BI platforms were found to have a 63.7% share of total worldwide BI software revenue whereas CPM had a 20.6% share and analytic applications and performance management software had a 15.7% share. In 2010, SAP BI software revenue for all of these aforementioned segment types combined ranked first at approximately $2.4 billion. Oracle and Microsoft had higher growth rates than SA P at 21.9% and 23.6% respectively but in absolute terms SAP grew substantially more with a g ain of $347 million between 2010 and 2009 vs. a ga in of $296 million for Oracle and a gain of $175M for Microsoft. SAP gained $50 million more than Oracle and twice as much as Microsoft’s $175 million.SALES POSITIONING This report is a strong endorsement and proof point of SAP’s continued leadership in the BI market.
