Lya Garcia: Wearing & BearingLaunch: Wednesday 8 January 6.30 - 8.30pmThursday 9 January - Sunday 23 February

Wearing and Bearing looks at the relationship between fashion and identity and the way that the things we wear - or don't wear - reflect our nature.

Lya Garcia considers the artificial nature of social conventions which define and restrain our appearance and bodily expression. Can we change by simply putting on someone else's clothes?

Paris-based curator Bettina Bauerfeind has been working with Lya to catalogue her work from the early 1980s to the present. On show will be documentary photographs from Lya's early career, video works and crocheted sculptures.

Skin Deep brings together four contemporary artists whose painted surfaces play tricks with appearance and reality.

Harriet White's hyper-real close-up portraits shimmer with detail.

Heather Wallace's sumptuous social scenes tell unexpected stories.

Clare Chapman's abstract images are both seductive and a little grotesque.

Mike Newton exerts expert control over paint, canvas and subject in his brooding compositions.

Palaces & CabinsFriday 11 April - Sunday 18 May

Palaces & Cabins explores the intersection of public and private space in Salisbury, revealing aspects of the City that are hidden in plain sight.

The exhibition acts as an artists' guide to the City, encouraging viewers to revisit the spaces they inhabit from a different perspective.

An early taster of comedy being developed for this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival featuring Lucy Beaumont and Jarlath Regan.

Lucy is a comedy actress, stand up and writer. She won last year's BBC New Comedy Award and has recently won the Chortle Award for Best Newcomer.

Jarlath Regan has gained a reputation for his uplifting, inventive and relentlessly funny stand-up. He regularly gigs around the UK and currently performs the warm-up for Mrs Brown’s Boys on BBC1.

A solo show from the former lead singer of alternative rock band Strangelove.

Patrick Duff has toured with the likes of Radiohead, Suede and the Manic Street Preachers. His first solo album was produced by Adrian Utley of Portishead.

Drawing on his vast repertoire, this acclaimed singer and storyteller will perform old classics and tracks from his new album 'Visions of the Underworld'.

A delightful puppetry show full of farm characters and Swedish charm.

When everyone is asleep Tomten wakes. With the trusty barn cat, he visits the cows and pigs and comforts the animals. Sometimes you can see his footprints in the snow. That’s how you know he is real.

Based on Viktor Rydberg's poem, Tomten is a gentle story of the circle of life.

Last year we joined Salisbury Playhouse in presenting Theatre Fest West: a celebration of all the talented artists in our region. We had so much fun we're doing it again this year and bringing other artforms to the party! We spoke to Mark Powell, Associate Director at Salisbury Playhouse to find out more...

How did Theatre Fest West begin and how has it evolved?Theatre Fest West began in 2012 when Gareth Machin, Salisbury Playhouse’s Artistic Director, came up with the idea of showcasing the diverse range of theatre that is created here in the South West. The first year included performances from Exeter-based Theatre Alibi, Dorset-based Stuff and Nonsense and Bristol-based Pickled Image. Since then, the Festival has grown and 2012’s even included a production from Kilter Theatre that took place in a converted post office van outside the theatre!

workshop courses About the tutorsTom Bromley is a published author, editor and ghostwriter with eight books written under his name and many more under other people's! He also teaches creative writing for The Faber Academy.

Angie Street has worked as a Scriptwriting Tutor with the Open University and is a Script Reader with Bristol's Tobacco Factory and the TMA judging panel. Her workshops focus on exploring individual creativity using stimulating writing exercises and games.

Suzie Gutteridge is a professional artist and tutor. She has previously taught at Winchester School of Art, Southampton University and is an Arts Facilitator for a residential home.

Jennie Gilbert is a professional potter. Originally trained in Swansea, she undertook a short apprenticeship in France before setting up her own workshop. She exhibits extensively and has work in collections in the UK and abroad.

Mirka Golden-Hann has been Salisbury Arts Centre's resident ceramicist since 2009 when she completed with distinction her Design Ceramics MA at Bath Spa University. She is an experienced ceramics teacher, maker and published researcher.

Charlotte Moreton trained at the Frink School ofFigurative Sculpture and has been creating sculpture and teaching locally in arts centres and schools for 12 years.

About the tutorsSharon Kearley is an experienced workshop leader and textiles artist. She trained at Chelsea School of Art and graduated in 1995 with a degree in textiles. She's also a mum so knows how to keep children entertained!

Carrie Madgwick is a professional Contemporary Dancer and Dance Teacher. Since graduating in 2005, she has performed with various professional dance companies and toured around the world. She specialises in teaching Youth Dance and over the past 7 years she has taught in Wiltshire, Hampshire and Somerset.

Jacinta Landon is a qualified Commercial Dancer. She has studied everything from Street to Ballet and Jazz and has recently presented, danced and choreographed in the Television Street Dance series 'Kick Up Your Heels' for Fashion One Television.

Becka Davies is our very own Youth and Education Co-ordinator. She has a postgraduate diploma in Arts Management from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and has previously worked as an Actress, Drama Tutor and Performing Arts Lecturer.

Matthew Dean studied Film and Animation at the Arts Institute in Bournemouth and has been teaching animation at Salisbury Arts Centre for nearly 9 years. That means he's had plenty of experience entertaining young people and creating quality films and animations.

Simon Davison is a TV and Film writer, director and composer. His previous work has included documentaries, adverts and feature films including Captain Eager and the Mark of Voth, starring Tamsin Grieg. He is currently directing the feature 5 Greedy Bankers with Pippa Haywood and Ramon Tikaram.
