The word “Salus” is derived from

Latin and means “well-being, thriving,

flourishing.” It’s also associated with the

Greek goddess Hygiea—the guardian

of health. The Salus logo symbolizes

Respect for nature is one of the

founding principles of Salus Haus. It’s

because of this respect for nature and

the life it provides us all, that they

were the first health food company to

receive certification from the European

Community’s ‘Eco Audit Directive’.

It’s not easy to get this directive. It’s

CHILEAN PERFECTIONIn 1992, after extensive research, Greither opened two farms in southern Chile. Found to have the ideal condi-tions for organic cultivation of herbs, Chile’s climate is similar to Europe’s, but without any contamination from radioactivity (of great concern on the European continent ever since the Chernobyl disaster in 1986). The farm is set in a pristine paradise cut off by the deserts in the north, the waters of the Antarctic in the south, the Andes (with a height of 18,000 feet) in the east and the Pacific Ocean in the west. This

natural enclosing wall protects from

plant diseases and insects, and there

are no city exhaust fumes or industrial

pollution for miles and miles. As soon

as the herbs arrive in Bruckmuhl, they

are subjected, like all other products

arriving at Salus Haus, to strict testing

procedures and analysis.

created with the least environmen-

tal impact as possible. Salus invests

heavily in natural methods, testing and

using natural ways of pest and weed

The Salus environmental commitment

extends beyond their products. They

produce their own hydro electric power

for use in their German facilities. In 2013,

electric power was generated in the

company’s own hydroelectric power

plants. The rest of the needed electricity

was purchased as green power.
