programs in law, medicine, andhousing. Sam Watson is one of the most well known andrespected Murri activists inBrisbane.
Sam is actively involved in thedefence of progressive social justice figure Father Peter Kennedy, and the St Mary'sChurch parish, which has comeunder attack from the Catholic
heirarchy.
Sam regularly addresses anti-war, environment and social justice rallies and forums, andhas been a Socialist Alliancecandidate at both state andfederal level.
1. Make public transport free and
frequent. We can afford it, we can do it.Solve Brisbane's shocking congestion onceand for all without more tunnels and bridges.
2. Quality universal health careand housing for all - starting with a full,
truly independent restructure of QLD Health -not cover-ups and corruption. Fewer bureaucrats, more frontline health workers.Embark on a massive expansion of publichousing to address waiting lists andhomelessness.
3. Genuine justice for IndigenousAustralia, not shameless implementation of damaging and racist policies inherited from theHoward era. Pay stolen wages immediatelyand in full.
4. A government genuinelyaccountable to the people. Community councils and referenda, not fake“consultation”. An end to cronyism and thepollies' gravy-train, and an end to corporateinterests buying favour and manipulatingdemocracy. Why are so many highly-paidlobbyists former ALP M.P.s and bureaucrats?
5. Create a green economy for
QLD - as the biggest coal producer in theworld, QLD must lead the fight against climatechange and a just transition for workers in themove to renewable energies.

Despite facing the worst economic meltdown since the Great Depression of the 1930s, boththe LNP and Labor have only one, tired answer – bail out corporations. With our money noless.
Socialist Alliance says: it's the corporate system that enriches the few at the expense of themany that has put us into this mess. We need a massive, public “Green new deal” that putsbillions into renewable energy, public transport, public health and education, and publichousing.
The Socialist Alliance is a campaigning, socialist party. That makes our approach to politicsand election campaigns different from other parties. We believe in real democracy –community control, not just an election every three or four years with advertising financed bydevelopers and speculators.
Bailout the people, not the corporate system!
We don't just pop our heads up at electiontime. The Alliance acts all year round tobuild all movements for progressivechange. The alternative we're fighting for
can only grow through strengtheningpeople's participation in all movements for justice. Election campaigns are just onepart of this process.
