  • Our annual campaign, Providing Help…Bringing Hope, will kick off in November and run through Decembre 31st! PHBH benefits all of our programs and we need YOUR

help to make this year’s PHBH the most successful campaign ever!

Every year, Catholic Charities of West Tennessee works with Memphis Catholic High School and their Education That Works program to host a group of interns, from ninth through twelfth grades. This year, we are so happy to be hosting four young men: Marcus Norwood, senior, Chrishawn Phillips, junior, Patrick Ransopher, sophomore, and Cristian Freire, freshman. The interns come to Catholic Charities one day a week while attending classes the other four days of the week. Student interns earn a stipend through the program that pays for ¼ of their tuition and gain vital critical thinking skills that aid them beyond high school.Interns at Catholic Charities of West Tennessee perform a variety of duties, from working with the different programs on projects to answering and directing client phone calls. Through these duties, interns are able to better their communication and time

management skills, while experiencing the work of a non-profit agency in Memphis. This year, interns are working within all of the programs at Catholic Charities to get a better understanding of who CCWTN serves in the Diocese of Memphis. They are getting a wealth of experience through their internship and are off to a great start!Want to help our interns and join us in investing in their future? Come join us one day and see the work they are doing (and treat them to lunch to practice their communication skills)! You can also support the project, and the Education That Works program, by sponsoring one of our interns for the duration of their time at Catholic Charities of West Tennessee!

  • In my life, I have seen the best and worst in our community. I can say as the new Executive Director that CCWTN is among the best. I cannot express in words how great the needs are for our ministries. Already in my first week, I have seen how we serve those who live out the real life drama of hunger and homelessness. Yes! We have, in our West Tennessee community, families who have no food. I know you understand this and the many other needs we serve.

It is only with your support that we able to say yes to those in need. It is you who “welcomes the stranger.” I am excited to join this ministry with you, our board, and our staff.

I also want to thank His Excellency, Bishop Martin D. Holley, D.D., for allowing me to be a part of the mission of CCWTN. I join with the board and the staff in thanking Father John Hourican for his service as Interim President and CEO and Deacon Philip Moore for his service as Interim Vice President.

    With a full heart,

    Welcoming the Stranger

We would like to thank the following benefactors for their generous support:

St. Sebastian Veteran Services opened at CCWTN in 2013 and is funded through Supportive Services for Veteran Families grant and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. SSVS works to end veteran homelessness through a rigorous approach to case management, employment counseling, and financial counseling. SSVS works with Veterans who are currently homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Our case managers work in collaboration with other agencies to secure housing and employment for their clients, while also helping clients to become financially stable.

YOU can help SSVS by bringing household items such as pillows, towels, sheets or blankets for clients’ housing to 1325 Jefferson and label them “For Veterans.”

For information on how you can help, contact Penny Patterson, Outreach and Intake, at [email protected] or (901) 722 – 4760.
