(A) FDRC Workshop

Mr Arvind Kumar Sikarwar Principal attended APS Principals workshop no.15 for newly appointed Principals at FDRC New Delhi from 18-22 June 2018. The training programme slated for five consecutive days covered the entire spectrum of leadership in Army Public Schools and the ways to ensure quality education for the students. It also enabled each Principal on how to incorporate the contemporary challenges and technological innovations in their planning while leading their teams for academic achievements and ensuring the well-being, safety, security and successful career map for each student.

(B) Extra Classes Extra Classes for student of X and XII students were conducted from 21st to 29th June. The objective of these classes was to reinforce the learnt concepts and provide remedial measures to the students wherever necessary. It also prepared them for their regular classes from 2nd July onwards.

(C) 4th International Yoga Day

4th International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21 June 2018 at Army Public School Gwalior by teachers and students of the school. The school celebrates this day each year to send a message across the society regarding the necessity of physical, mental and spiritual health for happy life. It also helps all students and teachers know the ways to ensure their well-being through a process of adaptation against new life threats and infirmities.

(D) Anti Drug Day Anti Drug Day was celebrated on 26 June 2018 at Army Public School Gwalior by the NCC cadets. On this occasion, a rally was organized to create awareness amongst people of Gwalior about different ill-effects of drug. It also cautioned people about drug abuse and drug trafficking as fast growing menace due to large scale consumption of it by the youth of the country.

(E) Excursion/Trip A trip to the heritage sites of Bateshwar and Shanichara Temple was organized for the teachers and other staff members of Army Public School Gwalior on 30 th June 2018. The objective of this day long trip was to provide a break to the staff away from their routine life so that they could get an opportunity to build closer bonds with their colleagues and team up for the new assignments with new energy and vigour when the school reopens after the summer vacation.

(F) In-Service Teachers’ Training and Workshops In-Service Professional Training during summer vacation was organized from 21st to 29th June 2018. (

(i) Teachers Empowerment Programme for Primary Teachers

Teachers’ Empowerment Programme for Primary Teachers was conducted on 21st June by

Mrs. Neelu Dixit , PRT and Ms Neelima Tomar, PRT. The workshop was held on the basis of

learning received at FDRC New Delhi from 2nd-6th April 2018 (PRT, L2-65, Wksp No. 162). The

following points were covered during the session:

Counseling – knowing different stages of child’s learning

Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy – Making worksheets and assignments for primary

learners.

(ii) Holistic Personality Development (HPD) A workshop on Holistic Personality Development (HPD) was conducted on 22 June by Mrs Saroj Devgan, TGT Science and Mrs Preeti Sharma, PGT English. It focused on the following areas of teaching and learning:

To identify and enlist the character traits, which should be developed in students.

To develop the skills of using appropriate tools for assessment of HPD.

To develop a curriculum for Holistic Personality Development of students based on the principle of whole school approach.

(iii) Professional Development Programme for Science Teachers

A professional development workshop was conducted for Science Teachers on 22 June by Mrs Mithlesh Chauhan, PGT Chemistry. It was based on hands-on activities that can be conducted in the classroom with limited resources in hand to ensure concept learning of Science in general and Chemistry in particular for the classes 6 to 10. The following activities were conducted during the workshop.

(iv) Capacity Building Programme A workshop on Capacity Building on Science was conducted on 22 June 2018 by Mr Upendra Gupta, TGT Science. It was based on concept learning in Science and its integration with other subjects. A number of activities were conducted during the workshop such as word search, science puzzle, and Bloom’s taxonomy.

(v) Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) A workshop on POCSO (the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act 2012 was conducted by Mrs Manisha Saroha Rana, PRT and Mrs Archana Bhargava, PGT Commerce on 23 June 2018. During the workshop, the teachers were made aware of this act which defines different forms of sexual abuse, including penetrative and non-penetrative assault, as well as sexual harassment and pornography. The session also focused on the role of educational institutions to bring reform in society and create awareness. At the end, the teachers in different groups prepared posters as per their classes to demonstrate their understanding of POCSO act 2012 and e-box.

(vi) Communication Skills with special emphasis on Spoken English & Story Telling Techniques A workshop on Communication Skills with special emphasis on the Stages of Spoken English & Story Telling Techniques was conducted on 25 June by Mr Arvind Kumar Sikarwar, the Principal. The objective of this workshop was to ensure that how by walking the extra mile each teacher can make significant contribution to the environment of English language at school. It emphasized on the requirement of good communication ability for each child as per his/her class level before s/he is promoted to the next level. The session focused on the ways, techniques and methods of storytelling in the classroom as an important tool to ensure communication skill, concept learning, value education and personality development for each child. The final session was based on the activity of storytelling by seven groups of teachers who created a story each within the given plot line and a message with each story as the value to inculcate.

(vii) Sexual Harassment A workshop on Sexual Harassment was conducted on 26 June 2018. The resource persons were Mrs Saroj Devgan, TGT Science and Mrs Archna Bhargava, PGT Commerce. The workshop focused on the areas of sexual harassment at workplace amongst colleagues and sexual abuse cases against students. The teachers were made aware of the possible threats to them and to the students regarding sexual harassment and child abuse. They were provided various guidelines to deal with these issues effectively and were asked to sensitize the students as well.

(viii) Pedagogies of Teaching Mathematics A workshop was conducted on 27th June by Mrs Seema Salwan, TGT Math on the topic "Pedagogies of teaching Mathematics". During the workshop, various tools and techniques were discussed to make the teaching of Mathematics effective and result oriented. The following points were discussed during the session: (a) Teaching Mathematics .

Use of children’s physical movements for concept learning.

Use of children's natural creativity.

Dramatization.

Use of children's problem solving abilities.

ICT Tools and Technology. (b) Hands on innovative activities for teaching mathematics.

(ix) Inclusive Education

A workshop on "Inclusive Education" was conducted on 27 June 2018 by Ms Priya Bhadoria, PRT. It focused on the points such as inclusive education (UNESCO 2003), its principles and aims, role of teacher, classroom management, teaching strategies, CBSE provisions and modifying grades.

(x) Innovative Teaching Strategies A workshop on Innovative Teaching Strategies was conducted on 27 June 2018 by Mr Arpit Paliwal, PRT. It emphasized on the change from the conventional teaching strategies to contemporary ones based on technological innovations and creative learning methods, which would cater to the needs of each child in a changing world environment.

(xi) Personality Development and Role of Teacher in Personality Development A workshop on Personality Development and Role of Teacher in Personality Development was conducted on 27 June 2018 by Ms Divya Gautam, TGT Science. The main points covered during the workshop were as follow:-

(xii) DIGICAMP (School Administration and Management Software introduced by AWES) A workshop on DIGICAMP was conducted on 28 June 2018 by Mr. Manas Mukherjee, TGT

A workshop on the Role of Music in Developing Life Skills and Values was conducted on 28 June 2018 by Mr Yogesh Sharma, TGT Music, Ms Nitya, PRT Music and Mr Shiv Kumar, PRT Music. The major highlights of the workshop were:

(xv) Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) Workshop

ATL workshop was held at school from 26th to 30th June by Mr Anurag Tiwari, a certified trainer

for ATL. It was a wonderful opportunity for the teachers dealing with Science, Math and

Computer in particular to see beyond their prescribed curriculum and provide opportunities to

their students to explore and innovate using their ICT skills and mechanical skills.

It also enabled the teachers to make their own robotic models using the resources available at

school and thereby improve their adaptive learning abilities. The following modules were

discussed during the workshop.

To make connection between Arduino Board, DTMF shield (dual tone multiple

frequency), Mobile, Bluetooth Chip, LDR Based lighting system.

Gear arrangement and mechanical robot mechanism.
