Preface
Great politicians like Chanakya have described the principles of
wealth. Great philosophers like Thiruvallavar - the author of
Tirukural - have described the ways to wealth. Poets, artists and
saints have described wealth in spirited ways and in great detail.
All economists have explored and explained its base covering
every aspect. Noteworthy among them is Adam Smith and his
book “An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of
Nations”.
This book entitled the wealth of mankind covers broader
dimensions of wealth. It recognizes wealth to be a
multidimensional entity, which can survive only when pursued in
all its dimensions. It describes five firm steps to a many fold
increase in wealth of individuals, entities and nations. The ways to
improve quality and quantity are described. Details of ways to
decrease degeneration and improve rejuvenation are given. Roles
of yoga & spirituality have been described. Importance of unity in
attaining and retaining wealth is explained and the ways to achieve
unity are presented. Based on an analysis of the existing economic
data, an equation linking life expectancy to income has been
discovered. This equation shows the necessity of attaching great
importance to improved life expectancy in our scheme of things.
Life expectancy appears to be the one parameter which wraps up
all the factors in its fold. Specific illustration of a few countries -
India, USA, and Japan - have been provided. The principles and
ideas presented here are equally applicable to all nations.
This book could be useful to every individual, household,
company, nation and the whole of mankind. It could be particularly
useful for students, planners and leaders.
The author appreciates the great help and valuable suggestions
received from his family members - Shantha Kumari, Vidyadayini,
Chakrapani, Chandrika, Srivatsa, Mythri, Madhav - and his friends
Dr M Vijayakumar, Dr SS Rao and Dr Hans Werner Becker and G
Bharathi while preparing this book in its various stages and parts.

Without their help, this book in all likelihood, would not have
come up.
This title has also been published in the Amazon recently. But the
present version has some improvements and in particular it
contains some timely thoughts from the ancient Vedas presented as
an additional chapter.
Offering my grateful namaskars to my parents, teachers and God
for constantly guiding me through a truly wealthy life in all its
dimensions part of which have been presented in this book, I end
with a largely experience-based practicable wish for those who
read this book carefully with an open mind and through them for
the whole world:
May everyone be healthy, live long, be wealthy, be well-educated
and skilled, have active work to do everyday through out the life,
be joyful, be peaceful, be a yogi, experience oneness with all and
feel connected with the Infinite.

Wealth of Mankind
1
Chapter 1
Introduction
“It is the most important ambition, duty and right of mankind to be
rich and feel rich”
Earth is rich beyond measure, beyond comparison. It is immensely
wealthy. Except when bound by man, even the weakest of the
animals on earth are rich. Of course, when tied down by man, even
the strongest of animals feel miserable and poor. Why are we
humans alone suffering a miserable life and spreading misery even
though we have an instrument of truly unparalleled capacity in the
form of our brain? We have bodies with great abilities. So, really
to be wealthy is our fundamental birth right, it is our most
important duty, it is the most important service or gift which we
can give to ourselves and to one another. This book presents a few
easy steps through which we all can easily attain this goal as
individuals, families and as nations across the globe without
exception.
Chapter 2 is about education, the primary factor which teaches us
the use of our brain to effectively generate true wealth and to
prevent degeneration. It is the fundamental enabler and is a truly
powerful tool. This chapter outlines what simple changes we can
do in our present system to bring about our transformation from
mediocre struggling individuals to perfected specialists and
geniuses. Perfection is the key to quality of work output and
generation of wealth in individuals, families and nations.
Chapter 3 is about work; the extent of work, the intensity of work,
the hours of work per day and the way it is distributed throughout
the year. The number of hours our offices and farms and work-
related investments work every day and the number of shifts

people work in. This is the key factor which controls the quantity
of work and generation of wealth.
Chapter 4 is about the ways for prevention of degeneration, for
decreasing losses and wastages in our life and products of our life,
especially our wealth. To enable regeneration and rejuvenation is
the key approach.
The above three factors together determine the net quantity of
wealth which we generate every year and gradually accumulate.
Chapter 5 is about the state of mind, the state of oneness and the
mutual relationships needed to keep our composure amid immense
wealth over a long period of time, for thousands of years, or in a
way permanently.
Chapter 6 is about the way the above four factors quantitatively
determine the possible increase in our wealth if we follow the main
steps given in Chapters 1 to 5 and take the help of the briefly
indicated auxiliary subset of steps.
Chapter 7 is dedicated to all individuals anywhere in the world
and it lists out what one can do to enhance one’s wealth and
happiness. It includes some insights derived from the ancient Gita,
Yoga Sutras and Bhagawatha.
Chapter 8, 9 and 10 deal with some nations in the world
highlighting their strengths & weaknesses and to what extent their
wealth can be increased compared to their status today and what
could be the dangers and pitfalls in store which should be avoided
by each nation. The ideas presented in this book are universal and
applicable to every nation in the world equally well.
Chapters 11 briefly describes the roles of players in the field such
as family, engineers, teachers, emotion builders, farmers, labor,
wealth managers, doctors, non-players, negative players, other
forms of life and sunlight can play in our ways to wealth.
Chapter 12 presents a glimpse of the thoughts from the Atharva
Veda useful to enhance the wealth of mankind and to preserve life
and the precious treasure called mankind.

Wealth of Mankind

Chapter 2
Education “We have been using less than the full potential of our
brain’s capabilities”
A good step for being wealthy is to be able to use our brain to its
full potential. Education is that necessary step and hence proper
use and deployment of education system holds the key for wealth
generation by changing the form, quantity and quality of our work
and also by improving our behavior.
Nearly the first 20 years of our most active life when the mind is
able to absorb new things easily, are spent in education. Yet when
we come out, often we find that we don’t know what to do except
look to someone to give us some job! In many parts of the world
this job hunt is one of the most stressful stages in life. Further,
when one gets a job one hardly remembers anything out of what
was studied. Even if one remembers a bit, it is not clear. Besides,
apparently very little of what one studied seems to be useable or
useful. So, our education system seems to be leaving us far from
complete. There is a need to rectify the situation.
When we are looking for quality and perfection, can you imagine
accepting a product which is 65% defective, or a product whose
65% parts are defective, or a product which has a probability of
0.65 of being defective? Can we use it with any sense of
reliability? Will the manufacturer of such a product be pleased?
Will the customer of such a product be pleased? No, certainly not;
and yet, this is what our education system has been. A minimum
pass mark of 35% means exactly that. Sometimes it is kept even
lower. Sometimes it may go up to 50%. But all very low values;
meaninglessly low. We must change this at any cost if we want to
be wealthy. We have to train our mind to use itself more.
Minimum pass mark should be at least 95% in each subject.
Teachers who teach should have got even higher percentage,
