The First Meeting’s Minute Of 2014

Agenda:

1.0 Chairperson’s Welcoming Speech

1.1 Sir Fakrul Razi welcomed all the English teachers and Madam Siti Amira

as a substitute teacher replacing Madam Husnida who left for maternity

leave.

1.2 He thanked to all English teachers for the cooperation given in the English

activities for the year 2013.

2.0 Headmaster’s Speech

2.1 Sir Jamiran b. Jaafar thanked the English Language Panel for holding the

first meeting and giving him the opportunity to give a speech. He also

welcomed Madam Siti Amira.

2.2 He informed that our panel budget for this year is around RM 500.

2.3 He hoped that English panel will spent the budget given wisely.

2.4 He reminded teachers who were involve with KSSR (year 1 , 2, 3 and 4)

should be able to teach pupils according the KSSR syllabus and approach

and hope the teachers do not still apply the KBSR style of teaching.

2.5 Sir Jamiran reminded the KSSR (2013) teachers to key in the PBS online

system before the dateline.

3.0 LINUS

3.1 Sir Fakhrul explained about LINUS (Literasi Bahasa Inggeris) and said

that LINUS will be carried out this year by year 1 and year 2 teachers.

3.2 He mentioned about the Implementation Phase of LINUS such as SAringan

reading, saringan menulis dan date to key the saringan data

4.0 Postmortem/Headcounts

4.1 Madam Noor Asma went through the overall analysis. ( refer the

appendix)

4.2 She presented the result and analysis for class 2 Beta,4 Beta, 5 Alpha , 6

Alpha.

4.3 Madam Shamsol presented the result and analysis for class 2 Beta.

4.4 Madam Syafawaty Eryani presented the result and analysis for class 1

Alpha, 1 Beta and 4 Alpha.

4.5 Madam Noorul Ain presented the result and analysis for class 5 Beta and 2

Alpha.

4.6 Madam Noor Asma asked for suggestion from other teachers to increase

the percentage of passes.

4. 7 Teachers must focus on the GALUS pupils in year 5 (2011)to pass their

UPSR examination.

4.8 According to the analysis, pupils from year 5 got the lowest results of

passes.

4.9 There were a few weaknesses that can be identified:

a) A few pupils still have problem with reading skill.

b) Some of them unable to understand the format of the exam especially

questions in paper 2.

c) Some of the pupils tend to be lazy during classes, unfocused and usually

did not finish their homework.

5.0 Academic Programmes for the Year 2012

5.1.1 Extra Class

- The pupils will be divided into groups. The extra class will be

held on Tuesday, from 1.40 pm until 2.40 pm.

- The Study Group program will be held every Wednesday, from

12.40 pm until 1.40 pm.

5.1.2 Early In the Morning

- Every Tuesday to Thursday

- Start on 7 am to 7.40 am

- This activity helps teacher to focus on pupils individually.

5.1.3 English On Air

- This program will be held every Wednesday morning.

- Teachers will switch on songs, rhyme or short story in English.

- This will help pupils to get use of the language while listening.

5.1.4 Learning Technique Camp

- Our school will invite the master teacher to give a talk to them.

5.1.5 Answering Trial UPSR questions from other states.

- This activity will start in August.

- Teachers can use Didik Newspaper as a resource.

5.1.6 English Club

- Do language activity such as crossword puzzle, word maze,

competitions, newspaper cutting, boggle, board games ,choral

speaking, public speaking, storytelling, action song etc.

5.1.7 Staff Development

a. The panel decided to invite master teacher to give a talk and

ideas on how to teach English effectively.

b. For those who go for courses should come back and conduct

in-house-training.

6.0 Other Matters

6.1 Madam Noorul Ain bt. Jamaluddin suggested Spelling Bee program to be

carried out either by inter class level or by inter home (sports home) level.

6.2 Madam Syafawaty Eryani Abd Shukor asked the relevant of SBOA for

KSSR pupils because they had been assess in PBS.

6.3 Madam Noor Asma informed teachers to make a copy of KSSR materials

to put in the SAL room as a resource.

6.4 She also reminded teachers to update the yearly scheme of work based on

pupils performance and ability.

6.5 Madam Noor Asma suggested to create English corner in school area or in

the classrooms.

6.4 Sir Jamiran appointed Madam Noor Asma as the teacher in charge for the

SAL room for 2012.

7.0 Closing Speech

7.1 Mdm. Noor Asma thanked to the teachers for attending the meeting.

7.2 The second meeting will be held after the first test in March.

7.3 The meeting was adjourned at 2.35 p.m.
