This week I met with Deborah Ferrucio and local community college teacher andlongtime community organizer. I met with Mrs. Ferrucio to talk about Warren Countys

past, present, and future. I wanted to hear her vision for WCs future, and what role shesees the local school system playing in her vision.

Please list any other activities engaged in this week that were not acknowledged

    above.

I met with the 2/3 of the third grade team during their planning on Wednesday to

discuss the NELA problem of practice assignment. These teachers have beenbrainstorming possible interventions for students who struggle in math, and on Monday,

coach from DPI presented a plan for teachers to track students and provide remediation. So, this was an ideal time to meet. I informed the team that through this project my

intention is simply to help all of us find a creative, effective way to track our students, soas to identify those who are struggling, and to implement in-school interventions. The

meeting went well, but was very quick and I didnt accomplish all that I would haveliked. Still, my next step is to obtain the materials showcased by Dr. Harvey from DPI,

specifically intervention calendars. At this point the third grade team would like to followa set schedule for interventions.

I also met with three teachers on Wednesday afternoon to walk through how touse the Mimio (interactive whiteboard) and find ready-to-use materials online. They were

very excited. However, two of the three teachers have the devices but do not have thenecessary whiteboards on which to mount the Mimio device. I have already emailed the

person in charge of the Golden Leaf grant at the central office and was essentially toldthat we are still in a holding pattern. This is frustrating because our school could simply

purchase the whiteboards if we just had the go ahead.

Please list any concerns you have:

Last weekend I spent a great deal of time creating looking at the calendar in aneffort to plan out some evaluations. This activity left me with a much more comfortable

sense of what my week was going to look like. Reflecting back on the week, it didntexactly go as planned, but I felt as though I had a much greater sense of control over the

events that took place, even those that happened to be unforeseen.
