My two passions in life drew me to York College. While some of my fellow highschool classmates looked for a campus close to home, others chose the freedom of being

far away. ome looked for specific programs of study like pharmacy or law enforcement.

!thers "ust followed their friends. #, howe$er, chose York because it is the only school in

 %ew York where a student can play in a "a&& band and also fly airplanes, the twoo$erwhelming passions of my life.

# ha$e been playing the trumpet since # was se$en years old. My uncle had an old

horn, which he let me fool around with when # was a child. # still ha$e that trumpet andha$e learned to play it pretty well. York's (a&& program and classes are both strong

academically and allow students to perform with other musicians. # plan to continuefollowing this passion here at York as a minor and then as a life)long hobby.

My other passion, *$iation, is what # want to ma"or in at York and then find work

in that field. # want to fly but # also want to understand the business and managementareas of *$iation. !ne day, # hope to manage airport operations at one of %ew York's

ma"or airports. !nly York College could offer me the chance to fly an airplane, learn

about airport operations, and at the same time make music with my trumpet.

# belie$e that # would be a worthy recipient of a York cholarship. # did well inhigh school and after one year at York, # ha$e completed + credits and ha$e a -./0.P.*. # belong to the flying club and perform with York (a&& ensemble. *lso, with the

help of one of my music professors, # ha$e organi&ed a group of student musicians and

we go to nursing homes in 1ueens to perform old fa$orite "a&& numbers for the seniorresidents. eeing the smiles and clapping and singing along by people who are my

grandmother's age makes me feel that # am really helping those people to ha$e a better

2uality of life.

# am a student who is proud to be at York and will continue to contribute to the

2uality of student life. # plan to be a leader in the flying club and the "a&& ensemble and

e$entually in student go$ernment, where one of my main goals would be to increase thenumber of paid internships for students. # myself plan to intern at 3ennedy airport or

with one of the airlines such as (et 4lue. When the managers there see how hard # work,

how focused # am, and how well educated # ha$e become, they will not only want me tocontinue working with them, they will also want more interns and full)time workers who
