Proserv specialises in a number of different exploration and appraisal sampling methods:

• Downhole Reservoir Sampling allows capture of high quality, representative samples from within the reservoir for PVT analysis with tools being deployed by Wireline, Drill Stem Test (DST) or Coil Tubing

• Wellhead Sampling is used to obtain PVT quality samples directly from the wellhead when conditions are such that the collected fluid is still in single-phase

• Separator Sampling provides back-up quality PVT samples from surface separators to compliment downhole reservoir samples

Sample Handling Equipment & Transportation

Proserv’s sample heating & transfer equipment ensures that captured sample quality is not compromised during sample transfer process from tool to cylinder and also from cylinder to laboratory equipment.

Our sample shipping cylinders transport hydrocarbon samples from the field to the laboratory of choice and are appropriately certified for their destination countries.

Sampling equipment and personnel can be mobilised from our dedicated local service centres to support operations as required.

Reservoir Evaluation and AppraisalTo accurately evaluate and appraise a reservoir, high quality PVT samples have to be captured in the field and then transported to the laboratory of choice where chemical composition and physical properties can be measured and determined. This process needs careful management throughout to ensure sample integrity, operator safety and legal compliance.

Production Monitoring

To optimise field production, produced fluids must be monitored to allow operators to make more informed decisions on how best to manage the production process.

Proserv specialises in the provision of custom-made sampling systems, which are used to help monitor production and maximise hydrocarbon recoveries throughout the lifetime of the field.

• Manual Production Sampling Systems allow produced fluid (normally gas) to be sampled into appropriate shipping cylinders using suitable valves and manifolds that are manually activated by the operator

• Automated Production Sampling Systems allow produced fluid (normally liquid) to be sampled without operator intervention

• Sample Conditioning Systems are required when large volume samples have been collected over a long period of time and contents need to be homogeneous before being sub-sampled and analysed

Multi-Phase Flow Meter Calibration

Subsea well production is often measured using multi-phase flow meters, which need to be calibrated to the characteristics of the fluid being produced. As the field is developed over its operating lifetime, the produced fluid characteristics will change and the flow meters needs to be recalibrated accordingly.

Proserv can work in partnership with their clients to design, build, maintain and operate subsea sampling systems to allow representative sampling of subsea fluids, which can be used to recalibrate multi=phase flow meters throughout the changing life of their reservoirs.

Flow Assurance

Operators want to transport hydrocarbons from the reservoir to the production pipeline without encountering flow impediments that will limit the financial viability of their projects. Flow assurance programs depend by their very nature on accurate fluid characterisation to allow prediction, modelling and management of potential issues such as waxes, asphaltenes, hydrates and scale.

Proserv work with clients to identify and deliver accurate fluid sampling programs to allow production chemists to get the necessary fluid properties to manage flow assurance issues in a cost effective manner. Proserv can also design, manufacture and install chemical injection solutions where appropriate to ensure that any potential issues identified can be controlled, therefore maximising production and reducing costly intervention.

Sand Management

When hydrocarbons are produced from unconsolidated reservoirs, sand production can result, which can create erosion and blockages in flowlines and other production equipment.

Sand management techniques allow the operator to maximise and maintain production while managing sand at acceptable rates. Proserv designs, manufactures and supplies a range of tools and equipment to monitor and quantify the level of sand being produced at given production conditions. This allows the operator to fine tune their production while maintaining the integrity of their assets.

Reservoir Optimisation

During production, fluid characteristics can change due to injected fluid being used to maximise recoveries from reservoirs. Injected water can break through and be produced and this is when it is important to understand which injector well it is coming from. Tracer fluids can be added and then detected and the system can then be tuned to maximise hydrocarbon recovery whilst minimising water production.

To support this process, Proserv can provide a wide range of sampling solutions ranging from the rental of our proprietary downhole sampling tools through to the provision of a custom made subsea sampling system.
