Voice of Frontier Musical Competition
Sashastra Seema Bal Wives Welfare Association, Sandiksha conducted a unique
programme of Musical Competition “ Voice of the Frontiers”. The competition aimed to
showcase & encourage the talent from remote border areas of the Guwahati & Tezpur
Frontiers bringing them on one platform through musical interface. The initiative was
enrolled in September/October-2015 when our selectors from Frontier Jazz Band
commenced selection out of scores that into the BOP’s in selection cum elimination
round. The next phase was held in December/January where the same process was
repeated at Sector Level.
The idea of roping-in music in the form of a singing competition to bring people of
far-flung areas of culturally so rich Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on a common platform
has emerged as multifariously beneficial.

After months of preparation and auditions process at various locations, the musical
festival kick started with the arrival of participants at Shilpgram, Guwahati on 23rd
June-
2016. The moment participants started arriving to their accommodation venue,
atmosphere bloomed with the art, energy and emotions for next eleven days to come.
Different feelings but one thing in common and that is the will to win the title of “Voice
of the Frontiers” here. Since then, the buildings of accommodation have continuously
echoed with the chords of guitars being played and vocals being rehearsed till the end. It
seemed as if everybody wanted to be the champion, their dedication and whole hearted
participation was a litmus test for us to prove if we were on right track.
The most beautiful part of this event was to see the bond of love developing
amongst the participants and our team, they raised above the bindings of cast, creed,
culture and region. They lived together, rehearsed together, competed together and even
looked similar in the Sandiksha provided apparels.
Despite of our expert’s continue guidance and mentoring, we could sense the high
pressure of performance and fear of being eliminated in the hearts & minds of all
participants. For them, it had no more remained just a competition, it was a dream, they
were living 24x7 for those eleven days. The waves of emotions kept trailing with each of
their performances and its results.
The finale of the Voice of the Frontiers was held on 03rd
July, 2016 at Madhav
Deva Auditorium, Kalakshetra, Guwahati. The Chief Guest of the programme was Sh.
Mukesh Sahay, IPS, DGP, Assam Police. He along with Smt. Sangeeta, President of
Assam Police Wives Welfare Association were welcomed by the Smt. Ameeta Negi,
Regional President Sandiksha & Members as well as by the Inspector General, SSB,
Frontier Guwahati.
It was an overwhelming retreat to mind, body & soul of all present there to see the
two participants from Blind School who won the trophies, their emotions, their attempts
to touch the feel the trophies repeatedly, their chocked throats when their names were
announced and the auditorium was shaken with the loudest claps in support and applause.
They are our heroes and the current talk of the town who inspire many a people of society
today.
Finally, on the evening of 03rd
July-2016, after the grand finale when the curtains
of our singing competition “Voice of the Frontiers” came down to close, the winners
were overwhelmed and also the losers were bestowed with the Mementoes in each
category.
