It is hard to believe that we are at the end of July already. I hope you have enjoyed the summer thus far and that you and your student are getting prepared for a fantastic 2018-2019 school year. As a reminder, the first day of school is Wednesday, August 29, 2018. While we get ready to begin the year, we are anxious to utilize all of the facilities within our middle school and high school that we have worked hard to renovate over the summer. The new science, chemistry, and physics labs, planetarium upgrades, and the improvements made to Rooms 300 and 301 are going to help enhance the education of our students in many ways. As we focus on our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programs, the updated facilities will help them go to the next level and give our students the best experiences and education possible. This school year brings many exciting events and activities for our students, parents, and community. Make sure to follow us on social media to stay as up to date on everything going on in the district. As we move forward with our Building Better Dreams Project, we hope you are as excited as we are. The construction process is rolling along and we will be sure to keep you updated on all our efforts. As always contact me or any building principal with any questions you might have. Go Blue Streaks! Design of the New Schools The project team is continuing the process of revising the plans of the new schools with the construction documents to be completed in August. The re-bid of the buildings will occur in early September. Though we are making each building as cost effective as possible to bring the projects to budget, we are not making any changes that will sacrifice the educational programming needs of the district. At the Intermediate School, the phase 1 site work is nearing completion. The bus drive will be open to the public on Monday, July 16 th and the site work is scheduled to be complete by July 20 th . Renovations to Sandusky Middle School & High School The renovation projects at the Middle School and High School are proceeding well and on schedule to be completed by the August 17 th deadline. In the Planetarium, the dome, flooring and cabinetry are installed, and all of the program equipment is set up. The new technology and the new seating will be installed soon. Abatement and demolition are complete in the Middle School and High School Science Rooms. New wall framing has begun and some areas are being painted. Ceiling grids are in place, light fixtures are being installed and the installation of the casework will start soon. In rooms 300/301, new ceilings, tables, chairs, flooring and an interactive television will also be installed soon. The Auditorium stage rigging modifications, new lighting and technology are being installed and will also be completed by the middle of August. As this summer is coming to an end, we look forward to the upcoming school year with pure excitement. It is hard to believe that we are at the end of July already. Design of the New SchoolsThe project team is continuing the process of revising the plans of the new schools with the construction documents to be completed in August. The re-bid of the buildings will occur in early September.
