Hey golden Key Clubbers!

With the end of the term just around the corner, I want to take

some time to thank you all for giving me this opportunity to serve

you as President this year. It has truly been a pleasure to serve

such a fantastic, devoted, energetic group of students and Key

Clubbers. I teem with pride whenever I hear people talk highly of

our club because you are that awesome and deserve that

recognition.

I I joined this club as a freshman and never knew just how much I

w\ would fall in love. Being a part of Key Club is something that I will

never forget and leadership has been a large part of it. I hope that all of you take the

opportunity to run or apply for leadership positions at any level of Key Club your heart desires, be

it club, division, district, or international, because you can! Each position, big or small helps to

make a difference. I believe in each one of you, and I hope that you will go far, as you are all

leaders that have made a difference. Making a difference is one step to changing the world for

the better and I know that you all have what it takes.

This has been an amazing year of service and spirit, and I could not be more proud of all that we

have accomplished. Stay golden and I will see you on Fridays at lunch!

Kaila Mattera

Music Festival- Kiwanis Food Truck On March 8th, I volunteered at Santa Susana High School from 12:30-3:30. There was a Music Festival

where many school orchestras performing, so we had a food truck so all of the people there could

have nourishment! I worked with the Kiwanis to run the food truck by getting all of the customers their

drinks. I have always loved working with the Kiwanis, so it was a very enjoyable experience!

Stillwaters Cafe Every Thursday from 5:00 to 6:30 PM, Still Waters Café provides hot, home-cooked meals in a family

friendly environment for the members in our community that are in need or are less fortunate. As a

ministry of the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Simi Valley, it is located on Cochran street

and is organized by donations to provide food for those who need it weekly. A food pantry is also

available for people to walk in and pick up food as they need for themselves or their family. Santa

Susana High School also helps to stock the pantry from food drives.

At Still Waters Café, most of the jobs that volunteers will be doing are similar in fashion to a restaurant.

Volunteers pour drinks, run for dishes or for refilling drinks, bust tables, provide desserts, scrape or dry

dishes, and help those in need get to their tables. The fun part about the Still Waters Café volunteer

experience is that none of the jobs are very difficult and are all very social whether you are out in the

open with the hungry community or are back in the warm kitchen with the adult volunteer cooks. The

jobs don't always last for the whole time and eventually volunteers can start helping with other jobs

which will quickly pass the time. The best part about being a volunteer at Still Waters Café in my

opinion is the warm thanks that the community gives you for all of your hard work to help them live

their lives.

Pop Tabs Throughout the year we collect pop tabs for Ronald McDonald house. This is a place in close proximity to a hospital where families can stay when their child is in the hospital. They recycle the pop tabs and use the money to help families pay to stay at the house as well as pay the utilities and other expenses needed to keep the house running. So keep collecting! They can be from canned beverages and even the tabs from canned food! S.O.S. (Save Old

Spectacles) We are continually collecting glasses for SOS. Check with everyone you know to see if they have any old specs that they do not use anymore. Keep in mind, the end of the school year is ending and if every member brings in at least 3 pairs of glasses, our sponsoring Kiwanis of Santa Susana will throw us a pizza party! Feeding the Homeless Our club helps at 2 different locations for feeding the homeless and we could always use more volunteers! We help with set up, dinner service, dishes, and clean up after. oStillwaters Cafe at Shepard of the Valley Church: Thursdays from 5-7pm oThe Samaritan Center: 1st Thursday of the month

March DCM

The March Division Council Meeting was the last one of the year, so it was extra special. We had a

potluck lunch with a lot of delicious food. We also played an Instagram Scavenger Hunt in which three

teams took various pictures. This meeting was memorable as our LTG and the other members of the

Division Leadership Team gave their closing speeches. I cannot wait for the first DCM of the new term

next month with our new LTG!

Division Leadership Team Opportunity!

For those of you who do not know what the Division Leadership Team is, it is a group of individuals who

support the Lt. Governor and handle the affairs of our division. Our division includes Simi, Santa Susana,

Royal, Newbury Park, Oak Park, Thousand Oaks, and Westlake High School. With such a large division,

comes a large responsibility. It'll require determination, passion, and hard work from you in order to

successfully lead the division. I HIGHLY encourage all of you to apply for these positions because not

only do you develop yourself as a leader but also discover the amazing things you can do for others. I

know that all of you have it in you!

Below is a link to apply for these positions.
