The Curriculum of the Artist Santiago AyerbeTRANSCRIPT
SANTIAGO AYERBE MORENO Visual Artist. Statement I’m a lover of the visual narrative, I believe that drawing is a form of writing in which the possibility of building worlds through images, based on the continuity of the line, is unlimited. The way we think nowadays links immediately words with images and the other way around, and I have found in this technique a form to merge both ways of communication. This way of expression has led me to find a way to unveil the insides of a person or thing, those subtle stories and memories that are immersed in every single thing. We grow; we feed and communicate with images. So we are, reflections, shadows and accidents. Because of Internet, TV, media and all different communication devices, we are losing our capacity of contemplation; standing in front of an image. Also, we enjoy more to watch images in our screen than feel the plastic sensation of a live piece of artwork. We don’t read, we don’t look deeper inside the images. I want to make people stay in front of my work, read, feel and connect with the images inside, try to unveil the drawing and how the image interacts with the person and the other way around. Every single piece has a different experience live. FB PORTFOLIO-ART http://on.fb.me/portfolio-ayerbe

"Santiago Ayerbe, an outstanding Colombian artist, is among a group of emerging young artists in the local Colombian scene for several years. With his unique style and natural talent for an un-‐common mix of techniques, he represents the new generation of Colombian artists who is making a difference in both the artistic landscape of Colombia and globally. He is fighting the overwhelming flow of information that out modern world provides and that which is making our attention span shrink by creating images made up of tiny, integrated images that will make one stop and look further. Within each piece he creates, thousands of details exist that will make one stare, searching to find something different. With each blink a new story and a new meaning emerges. He is providing the viewer with the experience of interpreting a story in one single image. Santiago combines two of the most important characteristics that we look for in artists: a unique vision and hard work. Not only does he create mind-‐blowing visual-‐stories, but he never stops working to make the world see his art, including the art of others. He is one of the creators of the “Colectivo Yavería” which is a project to unite artists and make art available to everyone by making festival-‐like events including expositions by visual artists and concerts by musicians. In addition, “Yavería” provides classes and seminars to teach and encourage people to make better art"
