News of The Week in Sanya Hainan's largest Ro-Pax ship makes maiden voyage across Qiongzhou Strait

Sanay, Jan 11: “Bai Shi Ling”, Hainan’s largest luxury Ro-Pax passenger ship, made its maiden voyage by commuting between Haikou and Hai’an across the Qiongzhou Strait on 10th January 2014.

The ship, constructed by the Hainan Strait Shipping Co., Ltd. with an invest-ment of 130 million yuan, is 123.9 meters long and 20.5 meters wide.

With a gross tonnage of 2,105 tons, the ship features a 3-storey vehicle hold loading capacity of 999 seats for passengers. The ship also boasts the strength of withstanding level 8 gale force winds.

The ship’s communal areas include such luxuries as a supermarket, escalators, a children’s playroom, a leisure bar and a cafeteria.

Hundreds of corporate chief execu-tives, government officials and experts from all over the world will take part in the Conference from January 9 to 10, and share their views on new energy vehi-cle market in China, prospects and development strategy for the market.

Initiated by EV Future Co. (D1EV.com), a leading global platform for new energy vehicle information and trading, the annual conference of GNEV has been held three times since December 2010. The Conference is supported by Information Department of Hainan Province Science and Technology Department of Hainan Province.

2013, one of China's major model competitions, was be staged in Sanya on 15th December.

50 contestants from home and abroad made appearance at Daxiaodong-tian Park on December 10th.
