abandoned by his mother who could nolonger afford to feed him, ahmed hasgrown up on the harsh streets ofComilla. he now lives in the DokkinRompur orphanage alongside 80 otherorphans.

Dokkin Rompur orphanage has noelectricity, no running water or propersanitation and parts of the roof havebeen destroyed in storms.

The orphanage consists of one roomwhere all the orphans sleep – crowdedtogether on the hard concrete floor withno beds or pillows.

ahmed relies on the generosity of thelocal community for food, but theextreme poverty of the neighbouringarea means that the locals cannotalways provide food and he is often atthe point of starvation.

Countless orphans are having to endurethe most appalling conditions and growup in fear and total poverty. Theorphanages simply do not have thecapacity or the resources to

accommodate all the orphans inBangladesh. orphanages like DokkinRompur are trying their best to givechildren like ahmed a safe place to live,away from the violence and fear on therough streets of Bangladesh.

These children don’t want hand outs, allthey want is to be able to leadthemselves out of a life of poverty withconfidence, but they need your help.
