    In client / server computing, part of the

    processing runs on the desktop computer

    (client) and part runs on the central shared

    computers (server).

    The presentation and pre-processing is

    done on the desktop PC and the

    information is stored on the servers. R/3 (Real-time Version 3) is the name of

    the client-server version of the SAP

    system.

    This is a software package that interfaces

    with SAP.

    For example, the Terminal Automation

    System in Truck Tracking is a bolt-onapplication.

    System Task

    In SAP, a system task is a series of

    screens completed to create, change, or

    display data.

    For example, one system task is to create a

    purchase requisition. System tasks arealso called transactions and are linked

    together to form a business process.

    I (Information) Provides information on the status of

    the transaction.

    W (Warning) States data is incorrect, missing orincomplete but SAP allows you to proceed further.

    E (Error) States data is incorrect, missing orincomplete and SAP will not allow you to proceed further.

    A (Abort) SAP has encountered a problem andprogram has to shut down.
