DATASHEET
Extending the power of SAP® solutionswith Interactive Forms
Successful organizations today are
bridging the gap between traditional
paper-based processes and enterprise
applications by using Web-based,
wireless, and other new enterprise
technologies. Interactive Forms based
on Adobe soware bridges the paper-to-
digital divide by helping organizations
create Adobe Portable Document Format
(PDF) forms that have the same high-
quality appearance and easy accessibility
of familiar paper documents.
By using information resident in SAP
soware, the Interactive Forms solution
lets IT departments replace inefficient
paper-based processes; include
customers, partners, and employees in
electronic processes; and extend the
reach of enterprise applications to a
much broader set of users inside and
outside the firewall.
Because the Interactive Forms
solution harnesses the power of PDF
and eXtensible Markup Language
(XML), it helps IT departments
streamline form processes and
capture data more accurately. First,
IT departments can easily design
sophisticated forms that look like the
pieces of paper they replace. en,
users can fill out forms with the
ubiquitous Adobe Reader® soware
while online or offline—without
buying additional soware. And
because PDF forms are intuitive
and easy to fill out, IT departments
eliminate time-consuming,
expensive rekeying of data when
users submit forms back to SAP
systems in the enterprise.
Integrated in SAP NetWeaver™,
Interactive Forms lets organizations:
• Create innovative form-based processes
to meet new or changing business
requirements while decreasing
deployment costs
• Reduce development time with easy-to-
use Adobe Designer soware, which is
fully integrated with SAP development
environments for Java and ABAP™
programming languages
• Cut costs for form design, development,
and maintenance
• Reduce IT complexity and costs with
ubiquitous Adobe Reader for client-
side viewing
• Improve data quality through real-time
information capture and route-and-
return processing

ADOBE DESIGNER IN SAP NETWEAVER
DEVELOPER STUDIO: THE PREMIER
DEVELOPMENT TOOL FOR CREATING
INTERACTIVE FORMS
The unified development environments of SAP
NetWeaver Developer Studio and SAP ABAP
Workbench, which include Adobe Designer,
let SAP form authors lay out templates easily
and preview forms in real time. Authors usean intuitive grid layout and drag-and-drop
libraries to position graphics; enter text; and
add form objects such as list boxes, drop-down
lists, command buttons, and check boxes.
With JavaScript support and a simplified
calculation language, authors can create
interactive PDF forms that help reduce errors
and speed processing. Form authors can use
drag-and-drop tools to integrate forms with
Web services and SAP enterprise services,
or link forms to SAP back-end systems.
These capabilities make it easy to design
sophisticated forms that can validate data,
perform calculations, present selection lists,
and automatically check for errors.
