Business Case United Shipping GmbH

United Shopping is a private limited company with approximately 500+ employees distributed all over the world.

Generically companies operations include management of the shipment process from location A to B via optimal path(or in the technical term the optimal shipment legs).

BI solution has been adapted to help the management in taking the critical decisions about the business growth using historic and current data.

Analyze the Business Case (As is analysis).

Understanding the key areas of concern for the management.

Developing a business intelligence solution using SAP Net weaver BI platform which will generate reports regarding the needed KPI’s for the higher management. Ultimately simplifying the process of decision making.

Key Performance Indicators

1. Delivery Delay Shipment Leg location for which delivery is

frequently not on time and how late it is (time in days).

Importance : It is very Important for a shipping company to find out the shipping legs which are not performing as expected and take important decisions to improve the conditions.

Formula used :Delivery Delay = (Expected end date - Actual

end date ). KF/ Dimensions used :End Leg location , Delay

in days.



2. Product Inflow to particular location. To Find out what is the quantity of particular

product Shipped to particular location in fixed time frame.

Importance : This KPI provides important information to shipping company (by enabling them to forecast the shipments of particular products to particular area ) and also to its customers(by making available the data which tells them to where there products are in most demand).

KF/ Dimensions used: End leg location , Product ID , Product Quantity.



3. Most Used Shipment leg for particular Time period

To Identify the most used shipment leg in a particular Season or time period.

Importance: this KPI helps shipping company to identify which are the shipping leg that are used most number of time during particular season / time of the year enabling them to serve there customers in better way.

KF/ Dimensions used: Time dimension as filter and shipment id.

Naming conventions are very important.

Take care while creating the csv file.Take care of automatic assignment of

data typesMake sure that you activate all the

objects immediately after saving.Make sure that there is very clear

communication between all the members of the team
