La major releases (e.g. 8.8) contiene nuove funzionalitàpiù complesse o cambiamenti nell’architettura tecniche; la minor releases (e.g. 8.81, 8.82) include nuove funzionalitàgestionali, miglioramenti di funzionalità precedenti ed anche correzioni.L’interfaccia rimane stabile tra la major e la minor releases. Entrambe introducono il concetto di release family

Ogni release family è supportata per 3 anni dall’inizio dell’unrestricted shipment della major release e copre ognisuccessivaminor releases all’interno della release family.Quando una minor release viene rilasciata sul mercato, la manutenzionedella versione precedente vienediscontinuata (solo il rilascio di patch). La frequenza delle patch varia da 4 a 12 settimane.
