environment such that data models are virtual and can be persisted in

data repository.

ETL Based Replication Overview

Extraction – Transformation – Load (ETL) based Data replicationuses SAP BODS to load the relevant business data from the sourcesystem, SAP ERP, and replicate it to the target, SAP HANA database.

This method enables you to read the required business data on thelevel of the application layer.

You deploy this method by defaming data flows in Data Servicesand Scheduling the replication jobs.

Log Based Replication Overview

This replication method is only recommended for customers thathave been invited to use this technology during the RTC of the SAPHANA product delivery.

If you are not part of this RTC group, SAP recommends using Trigger– Based Data Replication using SAP IT ( Landscape Transformation)Replication server because of the rich feature set offered by thisreplication technology.

Database Overview

The SAP HANA database is a hybrid in-memory database combinesrow-based, column based, and object-based database technology.

It is optimized to exploit the partial processing capabilities of modemmulti-core / CPU architectures. With this architecture SAPapplications can benefit from current bar down technologies.

The SAP HANA database is the heart of SAP’s in-memory technologyoffering, helping customers to improve their operational efficiency,agility and flexibility.
