Assign the Alert to End-Users

You have to assign the alert to end-users. The central alert frameworkof SAP WebAS provides you with three options:

Fixed Recipients: Here you can enter the names of recipients whoshould get the alert.

Recipients Via User Roles: Here user roles can be entered – all users assigned to the roles will get the alert.

Configuring the UWL – Alert Framework Connection

You can define connections to system as alert providers to the UWL

Via user mapping the UWL knows which alert containers a user isassigned to (either via the users or ist roles).

Depending on the user the UWL can determine and display the user‘s alerts from different connected systems

Value Set

Value SetThe Broadcaster enables you to fill precalculated value set variables with values for characteristic values in the background

The precalculated value sets are available as variable values in BEx queries

Typical use cases:analyzing target groups since you can specify a fixed value

when complex selections are involved such as with a Top n inquiry, used to improve query performance

After you have defined the Broadcaster setting, you can schedule it

you can use the precalculated value set in a value set characteristic variable.

The value of this variable is the value set ID created in the Broadcaster setting

The variable can be ready for input and you can select different value sets in the variable screen at the query runtime.

Information Broadcasting & Reporting Agent

The replacement of the 3.x Reporting Agent by Information Broadcasting in 7.0

The functions of the Reporting Agent are replaced by the Information Broadcaster

Old Reporting Agent scenarios still run in 7.0 based on the Reporting Agent

The Reporting Agent is not developed any further. It is removed from the 7.0 Data Warehousing Workbench. You can now only reach the Reporting Agent using transaction code REPORTING_AGENT.

A migration of Reporting Agent settings and Reporting Agent packages by broadcast settings is not planned.

SAP recommends covering Reporting Agent scenarios using Information Broadcasting.
