Student’s experience

Sapient @IIM-I I t was the proud moment for the

Sapient Institute Management Stud- ies when student of this college bagged 3 rd Prize in IBL (Indore B-

School League) organized by IIM-I. IBL was the Socio-management fest de- signed for the MBA students of Indore. IBL was launched on December 8, 2010 and reached its crescendo on January 11, 2011. Top 20 MBA colleges out of 56 were selected at first stage of selec- tion. Each college was repre- sented by a team of 10 for the major rounds. Blends of numerous events that formed this event were campaigns, quizzes, puzzles and debates covering areas of Marketing, Finance, Consulting, Human Resource, IT and Operations. All these activities except final round were conducted online. The final round was held at IIM-I campus. Sapient Institute performed exception- ally well throughout this event covering many round which span over one month. There were major five rounds with various innovative teaser activities. First round was about Marketing and the theme was “Green Indore”, Sapient students came up with some out of the box ideas and got seventh position in this round. Second and Third round were clubbed together with the same

deadline for submission – one of them was related to Finance and other one was Recruitment. Finance challenge was connected with Stock Market – simu- lated market was the battleground for 20 business school comprising 200 students. There were some technical error that cropped up in this challenge but still Sapient managed to hold tenth rank in this round. The third round of Recruitment was simulation game

meant to be as real HR activity for Khadi Gram Udyog. In this round, Sapient left everyone behind and came up with amazing solutions, got apprecia- tion from Judges at IIM and secured 1 st position. During the preparation for second and third round – Sapient repeated its remarkable performance in all three teaser rounds and won first prize in Best Team Name & Best Video and also got second position in Best

Team Name. All these teaser rounds were online – and Sapient spread its magic through online voting activities by attracting hundreds of participant. Subsequent round of Consultation (Consult-I) pertained to NGO. It in- volved practical issues related to bud- ding NGO that are encountering many challenges & problems. Sapient pro- vided holistic & pragmatic solution in the context of self sustainability. It was

one of the best solutions that IIM-I received & Sapient again secured 1 st position and was appreciated personally by IIM faculty for this endeavor. Such consistent performance by Sapient brought its team on the first five and made its way for the final round at IIM-I. The final round was divided into two parts – Operation & System. “Operation” was about live case study on the traffic problem of Indore. Solution of this case was

presented by Sapient with many innova- tive ideas with thorough research on all aspect of traffic that practically hamper its flow. “System” was the debate on the potential role of ICT in governance & s o lu t ion w a s sou gh t f o r “SAMADHAN” – web portal of Indore Collectrate. Results of these two rounds were declared together in which Sapient secured 3 rd position.

Being a captain of the team – first time in my life I got an opportunity to organize multi- ple work, synthesize diverse ideas, managing conflicts and leading the team for achieving momentous goal. In my view, practical experience of these sorts of competition remain supreme – but only when are well equipped with theoretical concepts.

- Pranjal Sharma

IBL was complete package comprising every area of man- agement. It was wonderful experience as a management student for me to go through this eye opening competition. I got an opportunity to practi- cally implement all of my ideas that I imbibed in classroom. It was truly an exploratory jour- ney for me. I thank Sapient for giving me this exposure to test my mettle.

- Abhishek Sharma

To compete with 200 odd students from 20 B-Schools was an arduous but an exhila- rating task for me. It taught us how to come up with innova- tive ideas while solving real life case study. It brought us face to face with pioneers of management (IIM) – which remained a memorable ex- perience for me.

Sapience is often defined as having or showing great wis- dom or sound judgment.

Wisdom, they say, is like salt. Having it will preserve you. Too much of it spoils everything and too little is of no use. The right amount creates wonders!

At Sapient Institute of Management Studies, we strongly believe that with knowledge you can be the most powerful on earth and do wonders.

At Sapient, our course content and delivery mechanism has been designed to meet emerging challenges and the sub- jects taught encourage increased involvement of students through simulation techniques.

Emphasis is laid on building decision-making and analytical skills of students. A 360 degree personality development of students is our core area of attention.

We bring to the table a variety of things besides just a nor- mal management education programme. Just a normal management education programme! Our unique didactics and education techniques give students an opportunity to learn more and essentially sculpt themselves into successful professionals.

Welcome to a world full of knowledge and success!
