THE ANATOMY OF A TASTE MAKER... by No .001

‘Confashions from Kuwait’ has become the go-to fashion blogger in the region

since 2007 with legions of fans the world over. Fans flock to her blog for their daily fashion fix. Uncovering inspirations behind

the inspirations proved to be a really exciting journey. ‘Confashions’ continues to pull styling inspirations from her mother

(the strongest influences spring from her childhood memories) but also from sources like the eccentric colorful Iris Apfel, an insouciant Chloë Sevigny, and

the long-limbed Dree Hemingway (great-granddaughter of the American literary

genius Ernest Miller Hemingway.) She sites ‘comfort’ as the key to personal style. We

couldn’t agree more.

I wear a lot of maxi

dresses, especially ones made of jersey, like this Rachel

Pally one. Makes it easier

to run after the kids!

It’s been said to death........

Tucker is my favorite brand. I love the prints and how lively they always are. I wear a lot of color for day, and I can always depend on Tucker to get my fix.

.....Before I had kids, there was no way .............

I feel people take life too seriously some times, we need to have a little fun, so I buy Havainas with cartoons on them. The very

definition of fun.

I have been

wearing the same

perfume for 22 years,

there’s a bottle literally

everywhere I go.

Hawazen al-Buaijan is positive energy personified. Giggly, amicable, and personable, your mood is instantly lifted when this beaming beauty is in the room. Showing up for the Shoot with bundles of clothing options, Hawazen admitted it: she hated having her photo taken. In fact she had been battling a case of nerves the night before. We reassured her but it seemed to be of little comfort until the music started—then she came alive.

Dancing and swaying to Maroon 5, I marveled at how easily she was able to turn it all around. This was only the first of many revelations about the Goji Boutique owner. Among other things, she has this magical ability to give her loyal customers and even people she meets for the very first time

I bought this stone bracelet from an antique store in Rome while pregnant with my first child.

.......but I really am obsessed with shoes.......

When it comes to accessorizing, I only wear one statement at a time. دBold vintage-looking cuffs are great for that.

This gold vermeil bangle was the firstthing I ever bought online. Now look at me, I have my own online store!

I’m a creature of habit. When it comes to shoes, I will find a pair, fall madly in love, wear them to death, then move on to the next. At the moment, it’s these nude Brian Atwood pumps.

The ultimate ‘girly girl’ Hawazen loves to dress up but admits that now, as a mother of three young children, she’s almost always in sweatpants and flip flops. Growing up in China and Greece taught her to enjoy bargains rather than covet labels—a compliment for an amazing ‘steal’ ranks higher than an expensive dress. How refreshing I thought scribbling notes on my notepad.

I beamed; Hawazen beamed back. Feminine and maternal without patronizing, Hawazen would be the friend you seek out for advice after a bad hair day. Now, if only cameras were able to capture pure sunshine.

For day I wear color but for night, it’s almost always a LBD. Black dresses are just so versatile I can always justify buying a new one.

the warm feeling of a lifelong friend. Not just any friend but rather the pretty one that makes you feel even prettier, just being there. So what is her secret?

That familiar flood of warmth she brings to any shared space may be due, in part, to that special perfume she’s been wearing day in, day out for 22 years. What’s more, Hawazen reveals her mother is her style inspiration, still following fashion knowledge she inherited decades ago. Very early on, her mother stressed how important it was to wear jewelry that reflects nicely on your face. Since turquoise is a stone that stands out against her skin, turquoise jewelry became her favorite just like her mother.

I love the way Greek designers are influenced by the Japanese. Seeing this dress hanging, you would never think it looks this good on. Perfectly constructed but with fluid movement. Yiorgos Eleftheriades is just genius in the way he manipulates fabric.

I feel incomplete without a swipe of lipstick on. My youngest has inherited my love for lipstick and makes her way into my makeup bag any chance she gets.

.....you’d catch me in anything other than a pair of killer heels.
