Cyber bullying

What is Cyber bullying?

When a child or teen is tormented, harassed, threatened or humiliated by a peer through the use of electronics.

Direct cyber bullying- direct attacks Bullying through proxy- Bully

instigates others to do their dirty work (forwarding)

What is cyber bullying?

Examples of cyber bullying include mean text messages or email, rumors sent by text or email, rumors posted on social networking sites, embarrassing pictures or videos.

How can a teacher stop cyber bullying? Stay up to date on cyber-safety issues

and laws. Create an anti-cyber bullying task

force with the school staff to gain a better understanding of the problem, and then work with this group to develop anti-cyber bullying initiative.

School counselors can guide teachers in recognizing and responding effectively to signs of cyber bullying.

Talk with teens about risks and benefits posed by the internet.

Teach teens not to respond to cyber bullies.
