THE STEPS OF BUILDING THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE
The people voted weather or not to build the bridge.
Work on the bridge began on January 5, 1933.
The south pier had to be built 1,100 feet from land in water 65 feet deep
Finished Pier, January 15, 1935 At each end of the bridge an
anchorage was built to receive the two cables.

The first concrete of the bridge was poured January 19, 1937.
Just three months before opening day, a scaffold beneath the roadway broke loose, ripping through the net, making it fall into the water.
