  • Brochure Description: A brochure for Elizabeth Engagement Photography used to promote said company.

    Date: March 29, 2015

    Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 06 Joel Judkins

    Programs(s)/Tools: I used Illustrator to create the logo placed within the brochure. I then used InDesign for the brochure itself while using Photoshop to edit and design different photos.

    Objectives: Learn how to navigate with greater ease through InDesign. Discover how to create ruler guides in order to make a brochure that can be folded correctly while looking pleasing to the eye. Create a color scheme for this project while incorporating pictures and a logo.

    Process: I had to have picture editing skills and the tools to do so as well as the tools and skills to create a brochure and logo. I fulfilled each objective.

    There are a variety of locations in which photos can be taken to get the beautiful scenery, along with the beautiful couples. There is also a studio. There are several backgrounds that can be chosen from. Equipment is another option in the studio. For example, stools and couches. Accommodations can be made to add instruments, sport objects, and whatever else a client may desire.

    Pricing :

    Pictures and shoots are reasonably priced. It depends on the number of locations and how many pictures are wanted. Prices can be negotiated. Prints and digital copies will be distributed after editing. It can take up to two weeks to complete the editing and get pictures back to clients, depending on number of pictures taken and the number of photos wanted back from shoot. The photographer has experience with wedding pictures, senior pictures, and baby pictures, but mainly focuses on engagement photography. Photos are taken to accentuate good qualities of both participates. Favorite poses are chosen beforehand in order to create a comfortable and fun experience. Elizabeth has an extremely flexible schedule to accommodate customers. There are a lot of equipment options to create the perfect lighting in the perfect place. Different cameras are also used for various poses, whether they are close ups or pictures from a further distance.

  • Event Ad Description: An event ad for a benefit to help end world hunger. Date: February 1, 2015

    Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 06 Joel Judkins

    Programs(s)/Tools: Microsoft Word was used for this design. This taught me that although it cant do complex things, it is okay to have a simple design.

    Objectives: Learn the importance of white space and alignment. Incorporate advertisement skills.

    Process: Because there were a couple important aspects to my message, I wasnt sure what I wanted the main focus to be and how I wanted the flow to look. After some time, I was able to make different important focal points. I learned the importance of contrast whether it was different typefaces, different sizes, or contrast between colors.

  • Photo design Description: I completed this project in order to take photographs and make a design with a color scheme pleasing to the eye.

    Date: February 6, 2014 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 06 Joel Judkins

    Programs(s)/Tools: Photoshop was used for this project. I also re-familiarized myself with the camera for the shot used in the design.

    Objectives: Learn the different color schemes and how to implement them with a photo. Discover various camera technics in order to take quality pictures.

    Process: I used Photoshop to edit the picture. I used layers so that I would not ruin the picture I had taken. I then used the colors within the photo to create a color scheme. I had to remember how to make different shapes and place items into a document. I also had to play with fonts to make sure it was readable by validating the presence of serifs.

  • Logos Description: There are three different logo options for the same company.

    Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 06 Joel Judkins

    Programs(s)/Tools: For theses designs, I used Adobe Illustrator. Because I have never used this program before, I had to learn a new set of skills with the tools I was provided with.

    Objectives: Learn how to use Adobe Illustrator with a greater capacity. Play around with various color schemes and decide which was pleasing to the eye with each design. Experiment with typography and what to use with each logo. Brainstorm three different designs for the logos. Learn how to create shapes and manipulate them in Illustrator.

    Process: I learned how to create shapes, transform them, and add text. Each design created

    was different, but simple to understand.

  • Letterhead Description: Matching letterhead and business card designed with personally created logo.

    Programs(s)/Tools: I used Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.

    Objectives: I learned how to make a watermark for my larger stationary as well as incorporate business card information onto a letterhead.

    Process: For this design, I used repetition to create gestalt with my logo, watermark, and information provided. It was simple, but took time and creativity.

    Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 06 Joel Judkins

    Programs(s)/Tools: For this particular project, I used InDesign and Illustrator. To make the logo, I used Illustrator and for the business card, I used InDesign.

    Objectives: Learn importance to have small typography. White space is key. I learned the importance of keeping it simple and the importance of sketching ideas before presenting them on computer programs.

    Process: We were able to use a logo from the previous assignment, but I chose to make it more personal and design another logo. I had to use my previously learned skills from these programs and the tools that had already become familiar with. It continued to be a learning process as I experimented with new tools.

    Programs(s)/Tools: For this project, I had to learn how to use HTML and CSS coding on TextWrangler. I had to make sure my coding was clean and free of mistakes.

    Objectives: Learn how to code HTML and CSS using TextWrangler.

    Process: I learned the meaning of padding and how to make a site pleasing to the eye. I also needed it to have adequate spacing and margins to create white space on the site and keep it uncluttered. I learned to change the typography in order to make it readable despite where the website user was.

  • Montage Description: This project was designed to be an inspirational montage.

    Programs(s)/Tools: For this design, I used Photoshop. Although I have used this program before, it was a learning process as I experimented with tools that I have not experienced before.

    Objectives: My message was meant to be inspirational as I worked to convey that individuals should not fear chasing their dreams. because Individuals are often scared of failing despite a possible successful outcome.

    Process: I learned how to take part of a picture and drag only the parts I wanted into another photograph. I then practiced fading different images into another to create a montage. I added text in order to make sense of the images I put together.

  • Flier Description: This project was a flier for a Graduate Leadership Conference. We were to include an image, title, DTP (date, time, and place), logo, text, and white space.

    Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 06 Joel Judkins

    Programs(s)/Tools: I used InDesign to create this flier. I was able to figure out how to use different tools within the programs.

    Objectives: Learn about the program InDesign and how to navigate through it. Experience the importance of having sketches before starting the design on the computer. Create a meaningful flier for projected audience.

    Process: It took me more time to figure out to make triangles and place the image and text inside. I created contrast by putting white text over a black box. I provided information in a professional way towards directed audience. I created repetition and gestalt through squares and triangles.
