Sarath was born and brought up in aslum in Madipakkam in Chennai.His mother was the sole breadwinnerof the family.It was really tough for my mother tobring up five kids on her meager

salary.She sold Idlis in the mornings, workedfor the mid-day meal at the schoolduring daytime and taught at the adulteducation programme of the Indiangovernment, thus doing three different

jobs to bring her Kids up and educatethem.

When 27-year old Sarathbabu graduated from theIndian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad, he createdquite a stir by refusing a job that offered him a hugesalary. He preferred to start his own enterprise -- Foodking Catering Service -- in Ahmadabad. It was a dreamcome true, when Infosys co-founder N R Narayana

Murthy lit the traditional lamp and inauguratedSarathbabu's enterprise.

Inspiration to be an entrepreneur his mother is the prime

inspiration E.deeparamani ji read in the papers that 30 per cent of

India's population does not get two meals a dayalso read about

Infosys and Narayana Murthy, Reliance and Ambani. Reliance

employed 20,000-25,000 people at that time, and Infosys, around

15,000. When a single entrepreneur like Ambani employed 25,000

people, he was supporting the family, of four or five, of each

employee. So he was taking care of 100,000 people indirectly. I felt

I, too, should become an entrepreneur.

at that time. Every time he solved a problem, his classmate always

appreciate him. From there he got an inspiration to start catering services

the order from IIM, Ahmedabad,

I come from an extremely humble background. Graduated from BITS Pilani andcompleted my management studies in IIM-A. After graduating from IIM-A, I

setup "Food King" - a food catering business which today employs 300+ peopleacross 3 centers in India

In 2010, I started "Hunger Free India Foundation" with the objective ofcontributing in my own way to address the problem of Hunger in India throughvarious programmes. In the year of inception, the foundation undertook a fooddistribution programme across 40+ orphanage, senior citizens homes andspecial schools covering nearly 10,000 orphaned kids and senior citizens on

October 10, 2010. The cities/towns covered were Chennai, Coimbatore, Salem,Bhavnagar and Goa.

I He dreams to see a Hunger Free India in my lifetime and so he hasstarted a foundation called Hunger Free India Foundation and declared

10/10 as Hunger Free day across India and fed 10000 kids last year andis going to distribute 1 lakhs notebooks this year.

Sarath has actively participates as an Independent candidate for theHonorable Mayor of Chennai, he believes to see the change , You haveto be the change.
