(Literary Pentathlon of the College)

Sargapatham
Sargapatham is an annual two day inter collegiate literary pentathlon conducted by the Sacred Heart
College, ‘Speakers Forum’. This event starts by a symposium is a rare genre of literature fest which will
be a special experience for the students and staff members. Main programs are symposium which deals
the current topics of the society, the speakers of the open forum will be the famous personalities in the
particular area. Essay writing competition, Extempore, Quiz, Mock Press and Group Discussion are the
other items.
Academic Year – 2018-19
Speakers’ Forum under the leadership of Dr. Abi T G, Prof. Sanjose and team, organized the prestigious
literary pentathlon “Sargapatham 2018-19“ on 15 – 16 January 2019. The inter-collegiate national fest
started with a symposium on the topic “Faith Vs Reason”. Dr. Sunil P Ilayidom (Academician) and Rev.
Dr. Paul Thelakkat (Spiritual Educationist) were the invited speakers. Sri. Johny Lukose (Journalist) was
the moderator. Students from 36 colleges across the state contested in 5 literary events viz. Essay Writing,
Extempore-Elocution, General Quiz, Group Discussion and Mock Press. Mar Ivanios College
Trivandrum secured the overall championship.
Academic Year 2017-18
Speakers’ Forum under the leadership of Dr. Abi T G, Prof. Sanjose and team, organized the prestigious
literary pentathlon “Sargapatham 2017-18“ on 26 – 27 September 2017. The inter-collegiate national fest
started with a symposium on the topic “Is Privacy a Fundamental Right”. Dr. Alexandar Jacob IPS (Nodal
Officer) and Adv. Harish Vasudevan (Environmental Activist) were the invited speakers. Sri. C R
Neelakandan (Political Analyst) was the moderator. Students from 42 colleges across the state contested
in 5 literary events viz. Essay Writing, Extempore-Elocution, General Quiz, Group Discussion and Mock
Press. Sacred Heart College Thevara secured the overall championship.
Academic Year 2016-17
Speakers’ Forum under the leadership of Dr. Abi T G, Dr. Thommachan Xavier and team, organized the
prestigious literary pentathlon “Sargapatham 2016-17“ on 17 – 18 November 2016. The inter-collegiate
national fest started with a symposium on the topic “Uniform Civil Code – For Nation Building or
Political Mileage”. Prof. Hameed Chennamangaloor (Political Analyst) and Dr. Ashraf Kadakkal
(Academician) were the invited speakers. Adv. A. Jayasankar (Social Activist) was the moderator.
Students from 38 colleges across the state contested in 5 literary events viz. Essay Writing, Extempore-
Elocution, General Quiz, Group Discussion and Mock Press. St. Josephs College Irinjalakuda secured the
overall championship.
Academic Year 2015-16
Speakers Forum under the leadership of Dr. Abi T G, Dr. Thommachan Xavier and team, organized the
prestigious literary pentathlon “Sargapatham 2015-16“ on 19 – 20 November 2015. The inter-collegiate
national fest started with a symposium on the topic “Social Media: Perils and Potentials”. Dr. T P
Sasikumar (Scientist) and Sri. V.K. Adarsh (Technology Writer) were the invited speakers. Adv. A.
Jayasankar (Social Activist) was the moderator. Students from 40 colleges across the state contested in 5
literary events viz. Essay Writing, Extempore-Elocution, General Quiz, Group Discussion and Mock
Press. MA College Kothamangalam secured the overall championship.

Speakers Forum under the leadership of Dr. Thommachan Xavier, Dr. Abi T G and team, organized the
prestigious literary pentathlon “Sargapatham 2014-15“ on 22 – 23 January 2015. The inter-collegiate
national fest started with a symposium on the topic “Politics of Moralism”. Prof M N Karasseri (Social
Activist) and Dr. Rajith Kumar (Academician) were the invited speakers. Shri. Gouri Dasan Nair
(Journalist) was the moderator. Students from 24 colleges across the state contested in 5 literary events
viz. Essay Writing, Extempore-Elocution, General Quiz, Group Discussion and Mock Press. The National
University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS)-Kochi secured the overall championship.
