ISOFOL 2426S
DescriptionSasol Performance Chemical’s ISOFOL 2426S is a multi-branched Guerbet alcohol with unique properties. ISOFOL is the registered trademark of Sasol Germany’s 2-alkyl branched alcohols.
The ISOFOL 2426S alcohol is prepared in an Guerbet reaction using Sasol’s Fischer Tropsch based methyl-branched SAFOL 23 alcohol as starting material.
ISOFOL 2426S alcohol is characterized by a high molecular weight and, therefore increased boiling and flash point accompanied by a very low pour point.
FeaturesDue to its high molecular weight, unique branched structure and its hydroxyl function this alcohol
• exhibits a high flash and boiling point
• has a very low pour point due to Guerbet structure plus additional methyl branching
• delivers good lubricating properties
• excellent wetting ability on aluminium and cold/hot rolled steel, as well as good wetting for brass and bronze
• has good additive solvency power
• is highly stable against oxidation
• offers resistance to hydrolysis and thermally resistance under normal conditions
ApplicationsThis Guerbet alcohol can be used purely or as derivative in a wide range of applications for instance
• Raw material for metal working fluids
• Raw material for lube oil additives
• Minimum quantity lubrication
• Raw material for viscosity index improvers
