INTRODUCTION

• A Matlab GUI is used for making communication and for displaying information which the user can easily relate.• The MATLAB GUI has good capabilities in linear algebra which

is important in the programming GPS data.• The GPS is fully functional Global Navigation Satellite System

(GNSS) which can determine the current satellite location.

OBJECTIVES

• To identify the usage of MATLAB software in implement the graphic user interface (GUI) for global positioning system (GPS). • To determine the GPS satellite current location and visibility.• To investigate which GPS satellite located nearer to selected

earth station.

THEORY GPS

• The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense.• GPS satellites circle the earth twice a day in a very precise

orbit and transmit signal information to earth.

GPS APPLICATION

• Common airborne applications are for navigation by general aviation and commercial aircraft.• GPS is also typically used for navigation by recreational

boaters, commercial fishermen, and professional mariners.

COMPARISON GPS SATELLITESADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES

• Navigate

• Cost effective

• Works in any climate change

• 100% planet coverage

• GPS battery operated

• Sometimes signals not accurate due to obstacles

• Need to use backup map and direction

CONCLUSION

• This assignment gives us a more understanding about how the GPS is work. • Able to learn how to coding GPS into MATLAB GUI.• Plot GPS in forms like sky plot, visible satellite, DOP and

satellite elevation.• Identify the satellites nearest to our country.
