What is AB2246?

• Signed by Governor Brown on September 26th

• Requires LEAs before the beginning of the 2017-18 school

year to “adopt…a policy on pupil suicide prevention on

grades 7-12…and shall address procedures relating to

suicide prevention, intervention and postvention.”

• I participated in the earlier training - this one was so much better. Being able to run the dialogue and

then get immediate feedback was really helpful. I saw where I could make better choices in working

with students who may need / should most definitely speak to a counselor.

• I thought the scenarios and the ways in which the students responded were very realistic.

• [I liked] reminders of what NOT to say. (Some of which I have said.)

• [I liked] the opportunity to practice.

• It was not the typical training with questions that you get right or wrong. It felt really nice that when I

got one "wrong" it wasn't like a big X and WRONG. It was something I want to model for my students.
