TheHungarianBalllastyear‐'ThroughDanceStepsinEurope'–invitedguestsbyremindingthemofthencurrentHungarian EU Presidency. In2011,themultiplesactivitiesorganisedinthecontextoftheHungarianPresi‐dencyoftheCounciloftheEuropeanUnionletthevisitorstogetbetterac‐

quaintedwithandeventodiscovertheextremerichnessendthehugevarietyoftheHungarianculturalandartheritage.

Thisyear,the17thHungarianBallofBrusselsgivesusanew

opportunitytoenrichandreinforcethetiesbetweenHungaryandBrussels,bene itingalsoofthe

Hungariangastronomicknow‐howwhichisalsoanintegralpartofherculture.Sincetheveryearlydaystheculture,underallitsforms,hasbeenoccupyingaprivilegedplaceinthelifeofEurope.Thecultureisa

vectorparexcellenceoftherapprochementbetweenournationsandourtraditions,itiscontributingtoourunitywithrespecttoourdiversity.This

evening,onceagain,theculturewillbethesymbolofallthis,andIwishyoutospendverypleasantand

The ChildWelfareOf iceof theBalatonfüredCentreforBasicSocialServicesdealswithchil‐drenwithmultiplesocialdisadvantageslivinginthemicroregionofBalatonfured.Itisagreatdif‐icultyforparentswhobringuptheirchildalone,andare insomecasesunemployed, totakecareof their children and pass values and right be‐haviouralpatternsonto them.Thecurrentpro‐ject of the Of ice “Let’sLearnWhileCamping”aimstosigni icantlycontribute to thechildren’sphysical, spiritual andmental development andwell‐being. Taking the age characteristics andneeds of the campers into account, expertswillhelpthemnotonlytoacquirecommunityvaluesand standards, but also to use them on a dailybasis. This provides a irm background for thechildren’spersonalityandsocialskillstodevelopandanopportunity forthemtogaintheirownexperiencein social interactions. Theatmosphere, in which thesechildren growup and spendtheir days, unfortunatelycannot ensure this, whichmakes theproject sovitallyimportantforthem.

Onecannotoverestimatethevalueoftheworkcarriedoutbycharitableorganisationstohelpdisadvantagedpeople.Theyaretherewheretears,sufferinganddeprivationexists.Ifeelitismy

dutytosupportthem.CharitableworkandhelpingthoseinneedisanaturalinstinctforHungarians.We

knowthatlifeisanopportunityforkindness.Weareawareof

thepleasureofgiving.WeknowthecommandoftheAlmighty,whichreads:"Help,givefood,giveclothes,takecareofeveryonelikeofyourself,anddonotletanyonesinkinthe

Dévawas established in2002, primarily tosupport the childprotecting homes,schools and day‐

care centres run by the Franciscans ofTransylvania. It helps disadvantaged children intheirdailyneeds, suchasaccommodation,meals,nursing, education and inding or providing jobsfor them. Today more than 2000 children aretaken care of in 21 child homes and 45 day‐carecentres. In2010,anewhomewasopened for20childrennexttoMarosvasarhely,inDozsaGyorgy.In order to cope with inancial dif iculties, thishome intends to be a self‐reliant in the future.Also,childrenmust learnthebasicsofgardening,fruitandvegetableproductionnotonlytodevelopa positive attitude towards work but also toprovidefortheirfuturehome.Toachievethis,theDózsaGyörgyChildHomeistobeextendedwitha vegetable garden and an orchard protected byfenceonaonehectarearea.http://www.devaigyerekek.hu

As it charms uswith its unique 19th century atmosphere, we canfeel the magic which captivates so many of hisreaders. In 2011, the exhibitionwas awarded theprestigious Museum Cafe Prize, recognising boththe creativity of its concept and the quality of itsimplementation.

The Wine Region TheBalatonfured‐CsopakWineRegion isoneof themostoutstanding in Hungary, where vine‐growing and wine‐making has a two thousand year history. It lies on thenorth‐east of Lake Balaton. The area gained moreimportancewhen itbecame thepropertyof theAbbotofTihany. Due to the devotion of themonks, vine‐growingandwine‐makingherereachedmuchhigherlevelsthaninotherregions.ATurkishinvasionhaltedthedevelopment,butagreatrenewaltookplaceinthe18thcentury.Bythe19th century, Balatonfured has become the mostimportant town at Lake Balaton, wheremembers of thearistocracymetatballsand feasts,enjoyingtheexcellentwhite wines here. Balatonfured is still the centre of thewine‐region and the town has been the proud holder ofthe title “The International Town of Grapes and Wine”since1987.

Welcome to the renewed House of Balaton Wines situated in the historical part  of Balatonfüred and offering 150 wine varie es from the Balatonfüred‐Csopak historical Wine Region.  

Our func on rooms host  wine tas ng programs both for groups and for individuals, and serve as a perfect venue for private and corporate events. For those interested, we also offer wine courses.   

Have a rest reading books and magazines about viniculture and vi culture, check out leaflets about wineries of this region or simply enjoy a glass of excellent wine si ng on our terrace.
