Shourjo Chatterjee, Accountant General Jammu and Kashmir, was the Chief Guest and Rajeshwar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, CID HQs, Jammu, was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Mumtaz Ahmed MLA, Gulabgarh was also present. They were welcomed by the Junior School Prefect, Ifra Sambyal, who presented the welcome address. The sports events commenced with march past by the four Houses- Legacy, Tradition, Culture and Dignity. It was followed by the Oath administered by Atharav Dabgotra, the Junior School Prefect and the declaration of the Sports Meet open by the Chief Guest. Students of the primary school put up a remarkable show with colourful dance drama and various thrilling races amidst cheers of stu- dents and parents. He said Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has already selected five institu- tions for setting up Sports Science and Sports Medicine Departments in the country. Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme has proved to be a boon for the students of J&K and more stu- dents from the state must avail its maximum benefits. She emphasized upon creating a massive awareness of this ini- tiative taken by the government for providing a platform to the students of J&K. Priya stressed on organizing more workshops for creating awareness regard- ing PMSSS especially in far areas to reach out to the under- privileged sections of the society. STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: All India Council forTechnical Education (AICTE)in collaboration withDepartment of HigherEducation organized a one-dayawareness workshop on PrimeMinister's Special ScholarshipScheme (PMSSS) for studentsfrom J&K for academic year2018-19 at Government WomenCollege, Gandhi Nagar here onFriday.

Minister of State forEducation, TechnicalEducation, Culture andTourism, Priya Sethi was theChief Guest on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, theMinister said that PrimeMinister's Scholarship Schemehas proved to be a boon for thestudents of J&K and more stu-dents from the state must availits maximum benefits.

She emphasized upon creatinga massive awareness of this ini-tiative taken by the governmentfor providing a platform to thestudents of J&K. Priya stressedon organizing more workshops

for creating awareness regard-ing PMSSS especially in farareas to reach out to the under-privileged sections of the society.The prime objective of PMSSSis to empower the youth of thestate to adopt a better outlookon their educational and careerprospects, she affirms.

She said that such workshopsprovide a vital opportunity tostudents and parents to get theirdoubts clarified from the visitingresource person from AICTEand also advised them to not gettrapped by middlemen oragents.

Director, AICTE for PMSSS,Dr M S Manna highlighted thevarious features of the schemeand assured the right guidanceto the students during theirselection for the scholarship. Heexplained how students can reg-ister online and get and theirdocuments verified and whatprecautionary measures have tobe taken during registration,verification and counselling.

It was informed in the work-shop that Students having

domicile of Jammu & Kashmir,passing 10+2 examinationfrom J&K Board or CBSElocated in J&K, willing to studyoutside the State, having familyincome of Rs. 6.00 Lakh orbelow per annum are eligible toavail benefit under the scheme.

Besides, every student will berequired to give preferences ofcolleges and allotment of seatswill be made through counsellingonly. In academic year 2017-18,more than 3200 students werereported under PMSSS and for2108-19, the scheme is set tosurpass the previous year's fig-ures.

The Speaker visitedGandhi Nagar, SainikColony, Trikuta Nagar andNanak Nagar and interactedwith people at these placesand also inaugurated and

inspected several develop-ment works. He inauguratednewly installed 250 KVAtransformer at SainikColony the funds for whichwere provided through hisConstituency DevelopmentFund.

The locals at TrikutaNagar and Nanak Nagardemanded the blacktoppingof internal link roads,besides improvement ofdrainage system in the area.

Interacting with the locals,he said that the developmentworks of PWD (R&B), JMC,PDD and PHE have beenexpedited and the tenders forcompleting the remainingprojects have been called andall the works will be executedin the next calendar year.

inaugurated the remainingwork of a community Hallnear Shiv Temple at WardNo 21, Gandhi Nagar forwhich the funds have alsobeen provided through hisCDF. The locals expressedtheir gratitude to the legisla-tor for taking the issues ofgeneral public and fulfillingthem on priority.

Multiple delegations fromSunjuwan also called uponthe Speaker and presentedtheir concerns includingirregularities in power andwater supply in the area.

Taking note of the request,the Speaker issued immedi-ate directions to the con-cerned department officialsto initiate necessary actionin this regard.

The legislator congratu-lated to Deputy ChiefMinister for taking up thePanikhar to Pahalgam roadproject with the UnionMinister for Roads andHhighways Nitin Gatkariin which he assured thatthe road project Panikharto Pahalgam will be takenas National Highway fromPanikhar to Pahalgam.MLA said the road was themain demand of Zanskarconstituency as it will belater shorten distance toAmarnath Cave for pil-grims. He said the road willalso be beneficial for thepeople of Kargil and Lehbeing the all weather safestroute and will remain openthroughout the year.

In the meeting it was alsodemanded that a mini air-port should be establishedat Zanskar as it remainscut off from other parts ofthe valley and also project-ed a demand of establish-ment of SankooDevelopment Authority.The Deputy Chief Ministerassured that in this connec-tion a team of concernedofficers will examine thematter and decision will betaken accordingly.

Based on specific infor-mation regarding issuingfake qualification certifi-cates, state subject certifi-cates and other importantdocuments, police conduct-ed a raid at ShahPhotostat located at MainMarket Kupwara andrecovered many fake cer-tificates along with com-puters/hard disks andother accessories.
